I give it an eight, for silver
You know what? I'd rate this movie fairly high even if it was terrible. It was such a refreshingly unique take on the werewolf legend, that straight away, I was drawn into it. I love the curse aspect of the trouble that plagued this little village and seeing how that curse was borne made it real hard to sympathize with ol' Seamus and his merry band. I imagine this kind of thing happened back in those lawless days. Of course, back then, those people hadn't seen a thousand movies wherein terrible things happen to people because they messed with gypsies. Don't mess with gypsies, son. No good can come from it.

I wanted a little more from McBride in this. I like his backstory and his motivation for hunting these bad dogs, but his emotional barometer never seemed to go up and down. That's the one area where I thought the movie was lacking. Otherwise, a straight on good time with some really good performances, particularly by those in the backdrop. With those performances and the way the movie was shot, you definitely got a sense of life in a ghoul-plagued French village and brother, I didn't like being there much. Kind of a fun, can't-go-wrong movie. Eight is for silver, bub. Remember that.
