    In awe of the script!
I really adored this movie, as it is slow and the story is whispered in your ears. Excellent choice on the lead role in voice with the monologues!

I did felt sorry for Dyer, as he is a good man, with utmost understanding. Dyer's and Finney could be movie on it own cause nobody ever dared yo tell it from that perspective. As queer, that sjeit happens to and it is very difficult for someone to accept that new reality, which was beautiful portrayed in this movie, on the down low. Personally I do like some more confrontation with what we wish not to see.

This is one of those movies, that if you like a story read to you, you certainly have watch.

    What year is it?
Honestly I was so distracted by the repeated thought "they have EXTREMELY LARGE houses!!". For the time period and area......yeah got that one wrong guys.

Beautifully desolate & bleak, but ultimately too sedate
In bleak 1850s-based US East Coast drama "The World To Come" Katherine Waterstone's the unhappy wife of small-holding farmer Casey Affleck - both in grief over their only child's death from diptheria. Into this desolation steps new neighbour Vanessa Kirby, who's in her own unhappy marriage to cold Christopher Abbott... and she & Waterstone strike a quietly deep friendship... and more. Mona Fastvold directs beautifully and it's superbly performed (esp by the ladies), but it's also distinctly sedate, leaving plenty of doubt as to where Ron Hansen's screenplay may be plodding. It's undeniable cinematic art, but certainly ain't for adrenaline-junkies.

    A Poignant & Engaging Story
Beautifully written, appropriately paced story of love, loneliness & desire. Great performances all around as well as the directing. I thoroughly loved this film & highly recommended it!
