If you don't like foreign films, this film is not for you.
4 Stars, To quote Lukash's review, "Its craziness is simply undeniable, juggling the grotesque". Like weird Monty Python but without even any attempt at humor. If you have never heard of this movie, there is a reason: No large numbers of people would recommend it. Read the other 4-Star reviews, they tell the real story.

Major plot sequences have no real definite causes, whether between characters or just the environment or between environment and characters. How and why did those things happen, was it this or that? Dunno.

You don't know where things happen, so you can't care or be interested about the locations. It might make a good short film if you cut the first part, shortened the second part to 5 minutes of character exposition, and keep the third part. It wouldn't be great but could be good. But the plot of the third part has been done before and much better.

remake of james barrie's film from 1957
When a couple joins a charter cruise, everything goes wrong. Just everything. But we already know several things about this couple. They argue non-stop. And she admits to being manipulative. And there are many more interesting characters on board. But it's really about social classes, and role reversal. When the boat is attacked, the survivors are stranded on an island. Some great film moments captured here...the captain is always drunk, and arguing about socialism versus capitalism. The vomiting scene during the storm. Or when one of the guests demands that the entire ship's crew go down the water slide. Delaying dinner. Which is probably why everyone got sick! Written and directed by swedish director ruben östlund. But the plot is VERY similar to "paradise lagoon", called admirable crichton in europe, from 1957, where the rich and the poor switch roles. The rich don't have any survival skills, so they are at the mercy of the poor. That story was by james barrie, who also wrote peter pan! Way before this one. But this version is also good.

Starts off slow but gets better and more!
RIP Ms Dean, you did a great job and your death seems untimely especially considering the subject matter of this film.

Is this movie worth watching? A big yes!

How was the plot? Awesome. Thought provoking.

Was the budget enough? Yes it was.

What is this movie saying about our world? The truth!

What is your emotional response to this movie? Just pondering the insanity.

What did this movie make me feel? Like watching it again in a few years.

What thoughts does this movie spark in me? Too many to list.

What themes are present in this movie? Greed and others.

Why would someone want to watch this film? To think.

What does it make me think about? Rich people.

    Pretentious, preachy, pointless
I have to say, as a socialist there's nothing I dislike more than limousine socialists and their pretentious allegorical "art" so I might be somewhat biased here but I'd rather have watched a poor American farmers' ode to capitalism than artsy garbage like this movie, I bet the latter would be less out of touch with reality and probably write more charismatic characters.

And I get it, the characters are supposed to be obnoxious but that usually happens in service of comedy or a greater narrative. This on the other hand is rarely funny, utterly pointless and awfully disjointed, there's no redeeming quality to this movie, no character development, no interesting or comprehensible plot, nothing.

The director and writer hides behind allegory and pretentious storytelling to "comment" on modern people, capitalism and gender roles without saying anything substantial or smart. It's the ultimate movie of the Western upper/upper middle class liberal LARPing as a socialist, no wonder it got a standing ovation at the Cannes Festival.

Modern cinema is doomed, even most of independent cinema is awful now.

Worst movie 2022 with a bad IMDB rating It should be a 4
Went too the movie because of the decent IMDB rating. I thought a 7.5 it must be decent at least. But the their was no story it was just a couple of random scenes with a little connection. At the start of the movie I thought too myself what I am doing here. The movie got even worse. I would not recommend this movie for people that like comedy because it has none. At the end the movie got more decent but predictable. It was a real low budget movie. The cut out the fun stuff because they had no budget probably. It was a waste of time all because it was rated to high on IMDB. I never take the time to rate a movie but when it was this bad it didn't leave me a choice.

Everything that is wrong with Hollywood
There was a half hearted attempt to be intriguing at the start of the film, but it quickly degenerated into, surprise, a self righteous and arrogant political statement. Capitalism is evil, socialism is good, anyone who has any wealth or success is a sinner. If I'm not mistaken the tickets to watch this movie weren't given out for free? The lack if self awareness from the creators of this Hollywood movie is pretty embarrassing. Do as I say, but not as I do. I'm so tired of the preachy tripe out of Hollywood these days and this movie is a great example of why. Expensive, gratuitous propaganda by thoroughly wealthy hypocrites who look down on everyone else. What happened to just making movies?

    Strange but entertaining
I watched "Triangle of Sadness" recently on Amazon. It is a strange comedy-drama about fashion models (Harris Dickinson and the late Charlbi Dean) who are assigned to be "decoration" of sorts for a yacht captained by a drunken Woody Harrelson. The yacht has been commissioned by a group of super rich individuals who expect their every whim to be catered to by the staff (including demanding that the crew waterslide into the ocean!). But then trouble comes in the form of a storm and another occurrence that I won't spoil here. The film is a sarcastic (and even caustic) look at the lives of the super-rich and those who serve them. I don't think it is as good as some of the more enthusiastic reviews have been, but it is definitely worth a look (particularly for the first half of the movie).

    The Line of Boredom
Somewhere may be a good movie or story hidden, but I wasn't able to filter it out of all the redundant noise. The humorousness scenes did most of the time not work for me, also there is at least one hour that you could easily cut and it would improve the affair a lot. Till we get on the ship we get bored to death with a lot of mostly useless and unnecessary scenes after scenes. The commentaries on society and capitalism, well, have the depth and subtlety of an election flyer of some left-wing party. And last but not least, some of the scenes and dialogues are really cringe-worthy. Well, if you try to make art, there is always the possibility to fail.

The total package of a film
I kept seeing rave reviews coming out of Fantastic Fest 2022 for 'Triangle of Sadness' and it has been on my radar ever since. I saw it was slightly on the longer side in terms of run times so it took me a little while to find the time to watch it. I'm so glad I did though. This is one of the best films I've seen all year.

I mentioned that the film was long, however I didn't want it to end. I find a lot of these drawn out 150+ minute films drag and I'm constantly checking my watch. Here though, I would've happily sat through another 3 segments of film with these characters.

The film is wickedly smart. It's not out to be subtle with its social messages, but I think that's why it works so well. It's so forthright with them that they can't be taken too seriously. I never felt like the film was trying to preach at me. It was more a case of making fun of generalisations in a hilarious way.

Finally, the film is very funny. If you only watch one scene of a movie from 2022 make it the Captain's Dinner from 'Triangle of Sadness'. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. This film was very, very good. 9.5/10.

    Triangle of Nonsense
This movie begun with an interesting storyline focusing on subtle moments with a funny and provocative twist, but as the story goes along I realise the lack of a plot... the focus was only on peculiar situations where the director could make some kind of provocative statements about our society or some social established cliches. And that's it.

The storyline was completely forgotten and with that the interest of the audience. As a spectator you can only have interesting moments on some types of reactions on some cliches situations but it lacks a lot on a interesting storyline which has none.

The second part starts promising but it starts to go down at the same time the ship goes down. Coincidence? Maybe.

The third part on the island was a complete disaster and clarifies how empty is this movie in terms of content.

I would call this a social experiment with some twisted humour than a movie where you can have a sense of some logic storyline.

    It's clearly overrated.
