A run of the mill family are on holiday when they are terrorised by their seemingly immortal and extremely brutal doppelgängers. I liked this - it's not remotely scary, in fact it is actually quite funny - in a perverse sort of way. The acrobatic kids cavorting about with limbs that bend (and break) every which way belong in the Olympics. It's hardly original, either - you'll have seen plenty other films in the same vein - but it is FUN! It moves along entertainingly and though the dialogue is not going to trouble a Pulitzer jury, it is almost two hours of escapism that makes no pretence to be otherwise. (Yes, the ending is pretty darned dreadful!).

    Why the hype?
I've never reviewed a movie before, but decided to do so after seeing this film. I don't understand the supposed "universal acclaim" here. This is a boring, formulaic, predictable and quite boring film. There's a minor twist at the end, but it doesn't really matter as no one cares about these characters anyway. I think this director did something similar with a previous film, e.g. Recycled a bunch of horror and sci-fi tropes and repackaged them slightly. Three stars because there are a couple of decent jump scares, but that's it. This movie seemed to go on forever and should come with some kind of warning about wasting your time.

    Plotholes and TERRIBLE conveniences
This is solid proof that jordan peele was a one hit wonder with "get out" and while it was a decent movie it is wildly overhyped and overrated. This movie was full of "why the hell would they do that"'s and "there is no way that would happen"'s. Terrible plot lines came one after the other followed by a contradictory twist at the end which might have been the biggest plot hole of them all. Honestly the movie had some potential but the execution wasn't there.

    SPOILER ALERT

There is a 1-1 copy of everyone on earth, they somehow know where their copy is at all times and were able to within minutes of eachother get to their locations to try and murder the entire country in a synchronized manner. Forget the states where the people owned guns and could defend themselves, forget the police, forget the military... these "copies" could barely talk and were armed to the teeth with... scissors? Last time i get fooled by a peele production. 0/10 for the time wasted watching this lazy film.

    THEM vs. US
I like Jordan Peele, kind of. Still, I can't remember Key & Peele's names right now. Right, right now: Tyler Perry. (Aww, I still can't.) So anyway, Jordan Peele stole this idea from a French film. The difference between "Ils" and "Us" is that the functionality of the tunnel system below the Earth was used for entirely differing purposes. "Ils" tells us that there are thousands of vagabond children under there, waiting to eat our food while we are sleeping, or to torture us with our pets. "Us" reveals that these tunnels might be housing for a replacement army of zombie-humans from some sort of cloning experiment.

In the Revolution and Colonization of America, the Colonists were forced to abandon New York City. There were Byzantine structures and tunnels buried deep beneath the islands, which caused the land to be non-settleable. Natives believed they were there before they arrived in the 30th millenium BC. It stretched, as it turns out, to Mayan temples. There is another belief that it was somehow infiltrated in the Southwest Americas by Reptilian aliens. Many times in circus freakshows there would be "archaeological findings." Other animals have behaviors like this, as well, hibernation, etc. The key to this movie's strangeness is the black rabbit. This rabbit is a key ingredient in the Greek assessment of the spreading and containment of the flu.

So, who is invading Us? Is it Them? (Antcestors?) Or... Nah... It's another human company. The movie never reveals the company's name, but the idea to hold hands across the world is put into action with the intent to lead you to the wrong answers.

I had to delete my other Peele review, because I will be honest, I just liked that actor. Maybe this makes up for it, because this was a surprisingly good flick.

    Doppelgänging mole people
I went into this knowing absolutely nothing about it. I hadn't ever even seen the trailer. I ended up being pleasantly surprised with what felt like a moderately original experience...

This was an interesting combination of horror thriller and comedy. The concept was riddled with plot holes and it takes a hearty helping of suspension of disbelief to enjoy. However, if you can get past that... it was a very interesting concept, fun twist, excellent acting and solid spook factor (in the beginning). The creepiness wore off after a bit but when it was first introduced it was pretty strong and cool.

Overall I found it to be an entertaining experience and I appreciated the originality. This landed at a 6.5 for me and rounding up to 7. Would recommend.

People really didn't like this film as much as they did "Get Out" which I totally understand "Us" fails to live up to "Get Out" but it's still a good and suspenseful horror it's not as thought provoking or entertaining to me as "Get Out" "Us" feels like more of a basic horror slasher with the family trying to kill/escape evil versions of themselves but yeah it's still great it was obviously going to be its directed by Jordan Peele who is immensely talented when it comes to the art of film making. The twist at the end was good and I for one didn't see it coming. I really appreciate the clews that tell you about the twist throughout the film. The most interesting thing about the whole film has to be the beginning text at the start of the film. Where it talks about hundreds of abandoned tunnels being underneath the U. S I'm not conspiracy theorist and certainly don't think "The Tethered" are real but still a cool fact. Overall decent horror film.
