A UNIQUE, CLEVER, DARK, DEEP AND POETIC FILM!
I dont usally watch musical's. But i gave it a shot because of the promising trailer, and i love music and because Adam Driver is in it. This was really something else i have never seen before and very, very interesting! It brings you away from reality and into a visual fairytale book.

A intense, surrealistic and abstract film with some smart pieces and genius manuscript, raw and unique situations thats very interesting to see, with great music and great acting! Genius crazy satire of our everyday life with a twisted story. Genius comedy! And it really shows how emotional unstable someone can get and starting to do terrible things.

    Beautifull, deep and clever storyline!

A poetic film that puts things in perspective! It takes various performers to new depths!

    The boat scene is brilliant!

It goes deep and exploring what comedy can be and how people react to it and how our society's views has changed.

Its a very cool, a bit scary, dark, sad and uncorfortible and unique film! Aswellll at it sometimes breakes the fourth wall!

    Editing and mixing is perfect!

It makes comedy a deep piece of art.

The angels, the unique filming and stunning views of nature and animals is beautiful!

The ordinary situations that gets into a musical piece is genius and makes the film deep.

This film is a clever masterpiece of art! Music, poetry and stunning views all combined.

The scene where she goes outside from the opera is genius and a fantastic piece which blurs the line between art and reality!

    The cinematography is outstandingly good!

I have always liked these type of "wierd" and "odd" art! And its really worth it prices it won in Cannes!

It also explores the fear that all humans have around things that we know are not human, eg dolls. But which look very human which gives that uneasy feeling, which the film really delivers in its atmosphere! But at the same time it explores the things that makes us humans and true exploitation.

    ARTISTIC GENIUS MASTERPIECE!

I actually suspected some scens that was in the last hour! But its very beautiful, sad and fits very well. But still very good and unbeliveble plottwists as the characters and the story develops! The end is a shock and gives an explanation sort of.

One of the deepest and most beautiful films i have seen with a big emotional impact!

Its really worth watching for many reasons!

    The most incredible puppets
I don't like musicals. I find them soooooo boring. 'Why do they need to sing when they want another slice of toast?' I think to myself. Despite my reservations, I decided to give Annette a go. Well... I found the whole singing thing utterly annoying. I didn't like Adam Driver's character one bit. The guy was a standup comedian that bored everyone to death with his unfunny jokes. Then the puppet comes up on the screen. There are different puppets representing Annette at different ages and they are all wonderful. They actually show real expressions (at least to me they did) and they were the best thing in the movie. I didn't like the movie not because it was a bad movie, I simply don't like musicals. But I truly loved the puppets.

One of the worst movies ever!
Marion Cotillard's character, Ann, is a frightened yet seasoned opera singer. Adam Driver's character, Henry, is (unbelievably) a successful comedian. Ann has a beautiful voice, and her character has depth. Cotillard pulls it off. Henry, on the other hand, was really poorly written. He doesn't utter a single comedic line and Driver was terribly miscast and looks like a deer in the headlamps most of the time. His performance belongs more in a small avant garde club in Van Nuys, rather than a Hollywood comedy club. Even their child, Annette (a marionette) is tolerable as an experimental persona, without personality or soul, but acceptable as un unorthodox characterization.

I guess if you get really stoned, this might be tolerable. But I prefer a plot if I'm expected to sit for two hours. However, I only watched until the eventful "yacht in a storm" scene. Thank God I didn't pay admission in a theater. What drivel!
