The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid

The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. With mermaids forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.

Best Disney live action I've watched since The Lion King
I felt this was perfect to show a whole new world and animation for The Little Mermaid. When I watched this in theaters, I loved it. I even cried at the end because it was so sweet. With Ursula singing "Poor Unfortunate Souls" I almost fell out of my seat in fear. It was so frightening, I probably wouldn't want my kids to see that part. But the "Kiss the Girl" part, in my opinion, was the best scene out of the whole movie. They got it right, but tweaked it a little. Which made it even better. The classic wasn't bad, but I wouldn't watch 24/7. Parents should have their kids watch this movie. It's good.

Loved the original. Not the Mediocre remake.
The CGI was good, but that's about it. So many questionable decisions. Why interrupt the 3 minute song "Kiss The Girl" for 5 minutes of dialogue? A couple of new and immediately forgettable songs except for the Awkwifina rap thing. That was just pure awful. Nobody needed to hear that. It's as if the director said, "Okay, hear me out, we will ruin everything great about the first movie, put in new stuff that will not work and nobody will like, and then drag it on for about an extra hour. Let's basically write Ariel's best friend, Flounder, out of the script. And, we will barely work this thing into a blockbuster success by cashing in on the name. We good?"

Sad attempt to capture the magic of the original
I was hopeful, but 1/4 of the way through I was already wanting to stop it and just leave. Why does Disney keep churning out these remakes with no soul? The CGI was laughable. It looked like 90's CGI. The acting was just ok- which saddens me because I like the actors. The actors have good voices but I could hardly stand the songs!

It's like Disney just isn't even trying anymore. For me, it is offensive that they put no effort into their movies anymore. They churn them out like a product on an assembly line. There is no heart, no creativity to their movies anymore.

I'm so sad about it- come back Disney! Come back!
