ENJOYABLE MOVIE IF , AS OTHERS HAVE SAID , YOU CAN TURN OFF YOUR BRAIN AND SUSPEND DISBELIEF
The title of my review more or less sums up this movie and 6 stars might be a bit generous but I can honestly say I enjoyed it despite the ridiculous storyline and the fact that , at times , it resembled one of the Airplane spoof movies than an actual sc-fi impending disaster movies . I'm not even sure if it not deliberately tongue in cheek or not but I hope for the sake of the cast and the esteemed Director it was . There were so many scenes that are wide open for parody like the scene , having refused to try to save the earth unless they get his son released from prison on a driving and drugs charge which they do and bring the son to meet his dissolute ex-astronaut who gives him a short speech about trying to save the world so he can grow up to be a better man than him ..... a perfect response would have been ....F that Dad ....... I'm gonna get stoned l.

Houston, we have a crappy movie!
Disaster movies always have a level of cheese to them, but this entry turns the dial up well beyond a bearable level. The CGI is awful and looks like something you would find on the sci-fy channel not a major motion picture. The writing is terrible and the actors are barely trying. The subplot of the children on earth trying to reach safety is useless and boring. Asking viewers to sit through 20 minutes of this is pushing it, much less 2 loooooong hours.

This movie contains an absurd amount of bs science, yet at the same time fails to properly explain to the viewer what exactly is happening with the moon.

This movie isn't even fun to watch. It's just boring and bad.

    Bad Moon Rising...
This is ludicrous, and terrible, and just so much fun! I have always been a sucker for disaster films. It doesn't matter how outrageous the premise is, I just enjoy watching Aliens destroy landmarks, or the Mayan calendar force L. A. into the ocean or a tsunami level New York. While Moonfall isn't the greatest entry in the genre, it is still a lot of fun as long as you can turn your brain off and trust that Roland Emmerich knows the formula better than anyone. Patrick Wilson is always excellent and it is nice to see John Bradley getting another opportunity to show the quality that makes audiences love him. I'm not Halle Berry's biggest fan, but having a huge star like her adds a level of credibility to the film. Not every movie has to change your life, and Moonfall certainly didn't change mine, but it was two hours of quality destruction and good old fashioned fun.

    Entertaining
This movie was so good to watch. I loved the way that they created such a fun concept of how Earth was made. There were some things that I would change, but it is overall a very good movie.

The acting was average, but the plot definitely made it better. I would've liked to see more of how Earth came into existence or learn more about their ancestors, but they did pretty well at explaining without making it too detailed.

I would love to see another movie for this. I love how in the end they left you on kind of a cliffhanger. It gives you the ability to imagine your own story after saving the world.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen.
This was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The writing is terrible, the story is asinine and there are more holes in this story than there are in Swiss cheese. What were Halle Berry and Donald Sutherland thinking when they signed on for this mess? They obviously did this for the money and nothing else. Sutherland has one scene, and maybe 3-4 paragraphs of dialogue at the most. This movie has absolutely no redeeming qualities in any way, shape, or form. The CGI is sad. The green screens are shockingly 1980 and the dialogue-the dialogue! My God! The script was written by some 5th grader who used every stereotypical line of garbage he'd heard from watching crappy movies. Halle says "I don't work for you. I work for the American people." Ahhhh! The head of NASA doesn't know basic math and scientific calculations. He is so afraid of what might happen, he just quits on the spot. He then turns over control of all of NASA to Halle Berry. She then decides to simply become an astronaut in 2 days and is flying a space shuttle. The comic relief comes from a janitor who 'discovered" in his spare time, breaking into offices at NASA (no security here, of course), that the moon was created by aliens. He then is recruited to join Halle and the other guys and become an astronaut too. He then immediately knows who to work all the controls on the shuttle and then becomes the one to "save earth.' So bad, Just, soooooo bad.

    So bad it's good
This is so incredible bad on so many levels it's starting to become a good movie. Incredible low depths of storytelling and a high school acting by Hollywood stars is an absolute joy to watch. Is this a parody or is then a genuine attempt. I'm intrigued how paid for this shallow pooshow. If they kept it to just generic sleep inducing pulp on the screen it would be just a comedy, but the attempt to inject a political statement at the end of this pooshow just convinces us to never watch anything that comes out of this backward production company. Gimme a break, 2 hours lost I'm not getting back. Thanks.

    Unwarranted hate
I was initially going to give the film a 7/10, but after reading some of the other reviews and reflecting on the issues they pointed out, I decided to go with 6/10. Still, higher than the avg. At the time of my writing (5/10).

I understand many had issues with the dialogue, but in watching the film, I was more focused on the questions posed. Sure, the moon is likely not a "megastructure" built by aliens (and if it was, why didn't the benign AI running the moon make contact with humans earlier?), but the idea that the universe is much older and holds more secrets than we can wrap our heads around is compelling.

My 6/10 reflects my acceptance that the dialogue was at times annoying, and the character development could have been better given the long runtime, but the science/technology (particularly the moon's effect on gravity and earth's atmosphere) were very interesting.

As others have pointed out, the CGI was top notch. I was glad to see most could agree on that.

If you have 2 hours to kill and are looking for an entertaining who-are-we/where-do-we-come-from movie that is much lighter than Prometheus and Interstellar, I'd recommend this movie.

    Bad Bad Bad
What happened?!? The dialogue was trash. Never did I think some of my favorite actors could make such a terrible movie. Is it a parody or is it supposed to be a serious space adventure?! I was sooooo excited when I saw the castttt. But that excitement quickly turned to confusion, then annoyance, then straight disappointment. I wasn't even mad about the storyline and the concept but the way it was finally presented just didn't do it for me. Just no. Save yourself the time and skip this one. There are way better sci-fi movies out there. I think they spent their budget of visual graphics instead of the writing and screenplay. Shame.

    Not bad but totally ridiculous.
Not bad but totally ridiculous. It's like halfway through the movie the genre changed from Disaster to Sci-Fi with aliens. Preposterous. Absurd. Design and effects and acting was good. It's just the story itself is crazy. I liked being introduced to the conspiracy theories but didn't realize every single one was going to be right.

Hated the screw up son and fam trying to get somewhere safe storyline. They threw in the kitchen sink with that subplot with looters, family angst, and a car chase. Completely disregarded geography and the passage of time. California to Colorado is 15 hours!

I guess I could go on and on, but the main trio were great and the special effects were well done.
