    No story here
    Such a waste of good talent. The acting is great but the story goes no where and makes very little sense. Terrible sound track. Loud at times and then you can't make out what they are saying at other times. The story itself is full of holes. The main character starts out as a half child-scared timid mouse and then near the end of the movie she is a brave fearless woman. People don't change like that. Full of sexual innuendo that goes no where and makes very little sense. Are the women gay or are they not- or do they not know them selves? The ending leaves you hanging like it's an mid way intermission. I'm left wondering where is the second half of the movie? The whole movie that I watched really could have been reduced to a half hour if it were done better.

    If it's free, worth watching
    I almost paid to rent this, but waited and it was free on Hulu. Glad I did! Let me start saying I love the cast. They are top notch. This is probably a case of a poorly constructed story. I got the impression it was confused on what it should be. I coming of age? I thriller? What are you, Eileen? I watched the whole thing hoping to find out. Just know that you'll come away with questions and mild disappointment. The lead actresses make it worth spending two hours, which speaks to their talent. And the direction was almost, but not. I enjoyed the set design and period costumes. Wait till it's free, that's my advice.

    Stupid and Unpleasant
    A really stupid and deeply unpleasant movie.

    I give Thomasin McKenzie some credit for committing 100% to such an unsympathetic character, but man is she gross in this. One scene finds her waking up with vomit smeared all over her face, and leg and armpit shaving has never looked as grotesque as she makes it look in this movie.

    There's a twist mid-way through the film that takes it into gothic thriller territory, but it's implausible and deeply dumb. I think the director was kind of going for a dark comedy vibe for a lot of the time, but it never lands.

    Anne Hathaway isn't believable for one single second.

    It occurred to me to wonder if this is one of those "did the other woman ever exist at all or was it all in her head?" kind of movies, though there's not much in the film to support that reading. And even if it were the case, that in itself is a lazy trope that's been done to death, though Hathaway's character would make a lot more sense as a figment of Eileen's imagination than as an actual human being, and I might have liked Hathaway's performance more.

    I wanted to take a shower after watching this movie.
