    Reasonably entertaining yet disappointing
Right from the start we are confronted with such unprofessional behavior that it is immersion breaking. Cam's loose hair is hanging into her patients wound which is to say she looks like an actor playing a role rather than appearing as a character, yet we are told that the slob is such a good paramedic. The best thing about this movie is the camera work. Then there is the robbers who basically tell their life story in front of a hostage not to mention using their names, and not bothering to mask up or use other forms of disguises. All in all it is worse than I expected, brainless well made action & no clever twists and some pandering for good measure.

A Michael Bay version of Heat, but obviously nowhere near as good.
This is how I would imagine Michael Bay would have made the film Heat (1995) if he got his hands on the screenplay before Michael Mann. Cut out all the meaningful character development and heart of the screenplay and spent most of the money and time on set pieces and crazy shots. The story is basically dumb as hell, but I don't go to watch Bay films for the story. There is a phrase used in Hollywood called "Bayisms," which is basically what this film is, from start to finish. It's not "Bad Boys" or "Pain and Gain," arguably Bay's best films. It's Bay doing what he does best, using all the tools at his disposal.

If, like me, you sometimes just want to watch shootouts, large explosions, and crazy chase scenes, this could be your cup of tea. If not, you'll probably dislike this film. This is popcorn-brain-turned-off high-octane madness that makes very little sense but is exactly what you'd expect from Michael Bay. You have been advised or warned whichever suits.

Michael Bay cannot end a movie
Turn your brain off before you start, the story is ridiculous, the camera work is horrendous and the script must have been written by a couple of twelve year olds, other than that it has it's moments of good decent action. Bay fails magnificently at trying to do drama in this movie and the last ten minutes when they reach the hospital, end it there, the ending is so bad it'll curl your toes in excruciating embarrassment for Bay's attempt at, well what ever he was attempting but seriously don't watch the ending. So many will watch this movie because Jake Gyllenhaal is in it, just as I did. Not one of his best, took the character too far and just became annoying so when he's shot at the end by his brother it's a case of "Well, yeah, whatever." All in all it's more annoying to watch than enjoyable, holes left right and centre in this disaster of a movie. Give it a miss.

    Hot mess
I don't normally leave review unless its exceptionally good or bad, in this case its the latter.

The plot is weak. I just cannot imagine a modern crime hosted by an experienced criminal can be this reckless. How do you rob a bank without wearing a mask? Why would a criminal tell details of their accomplice to a conscious cop? If one has shot a cop, what warranted his/her life even though they try to save a dying cop?

Just a few questions, nothing too brainy, but it impacts the whole viewing experience.

Michael Bay, as if he had found a new shooting toy, keeps on abusing the drone/panning technique. Every 5-10 mins, you can see the same shooting technique used over and over again on insignificant scene setup. It just fuels me the feeling that he is toying with his newly bought drone and abused it as much as possible to justify the purchase.

And the MB classic Transformer cheap ass explosive flares and explosions. Damn it, can you just stop using flares, its like I can expect seeing flares even when the protagonist brushing his teeth.

The acting is alright, I am more incline to believe that the weak story plot is what dragged their performances behind.

This isn't a movie that is easy to sit through on couch and finished watching it in one go. I'd recommend to those who need something to play in the background when they are working and maybe turn their heads to the screen now and then. I can say you wouldn't miss too much and can still understand what is going.

Like a camera tied to a tree branch in a tornado
There is no easy explanation for what this movie is, or wants to be. The dialogue, scenes, character actions, and writing among most everything else doesn't even compute for me at all. The parts making up the story's whole have little explanation- just muldy related events glued together. The scripts character lines are like almost nothing I've seen make it to screen. Like way out in the left field bleachers. Surprisingly zero standout performances. But a bus load of action for the chronic junkie of the genre. Literally have nothing else to add. My only review in IMDB in years to get off my chest how embarrassing this effort turned out to be.

THE BEST ACTION FILM OF THE YEAR
This movie definitely did not disappoint. The plot was simplistic: two brothers single-handedly tried to rob a bank then later ambushed an ambulance. It was almost cliche, but something about this film really grabbed you by the neck and never let go. From start to finish the intensity of the scenes were consistent. Jake Gyllenhaal just never disappoints. He was so good at portraying a fun and cool antagonist. The cinematography and cameraworks were top-tier as well. The film also did not forget to play it fun for a little bit. From the toning-down of action scenes to the music it was nevertheless an unending thrill for moviegoers.

    Jesus help us all
One hour of the camerman's work gave me headache, never seen camera pacing so fast around from all possible angles, just awful. That's just a begining.

Actors acting unrealistically, everyone carrys on massive bucket of egoism. The cry for attention is fairly unbelievable.

The story isn't not the best either. Going to Rob a bank? No plan, no problem. Just shoot at everything that moves. Also don't forget to be as cocky as it's humanly possible and choose the biggest, stupidest buddies to help you Rob that bank so you'll definitely won't make it out alive.

The dialogue, if any, oh c'mon give me a break!

I'm off to watch Peppa Pig instead.

Bay lost his edge? Great action and driving sequences but let down by modern Hollywood elements
This is a good edge of your seat movie, good for a forgettable couple of hours. The sequences, camera work, ridiculous stunts and explosions are all great and the high quality ridiculousness you'd expect in a Michael Bay film. Jake Gyllenhaal is great as he nearly always is and Yayha I hadn't seen Before Is also very good. Eliza Gonzalez is okay, problem is she plays a pretty unbelievable character at times.

And this actually goes to what hurts the film for me. Ridiculous dialogue, which tries to be witty but is so completely unreal it hurts (the dialogue especially between the head cop and it girl is painful). And not to mention As is the modern day trope the Hollywood bad guys are again the straight white males but thankfully African Americans and women are here to save the day. Oh and there's also a gay guy who seems to be the only competent cop. Given Bay doesn't do subtlety these obvious character pushes aren't hard to miss. I wish Hollywood would stop trying to make up for the wrongs of the past and focus on good films and characters. As it stands this is just a good film, but I can ignore those things to enjoy this. Which I did.
