A true story done justice by allowing the great acting to shine through
A psychological thriller drama based on a true story that has fantastic acting from Eddie Redmayne as Charles Cullen and Jessica Chastain as Amy Loughren. Eddie Redmayne did a wonderful job of translating the unsettling nature of Charles Cullen while Jessica Chastain was wonderful as the pure hearted nurse at the center of this story. Her sincerity in the role took the film to another level. Tobias Lindholm, the director, did a great job of staying true to the real life story of serial killer Charles Cullen and never tried to ramp up the tension unnecessarily because every bit of it was there to begin with. Going into the film, I hadn't read about the true story and as the film began to ramp up, the tension was very well done and had me near the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen through the ending. Could they lock him down or was he going to escape prison due to the lack of true concrete evidence? You don't know until the end. Well, unless you already know the true story. The cinematography and setting was good, but they never tried to do too much with it and allowed the uncomfortable true story unravel without muddying the waters. I would fully recommend this film to anybody who enjoys a slow burn thriller/drama with little to no action.

Love this movie but don't think I can ever rewatch it
Since it's based on a true story, I can never rewatch it, like Changeling. Too emotional, and it hurts. Thank you for telling the story. Sixteen years he'd worked as a nurse, as many as 400 lives may be taken.... He never told why he did it, and Eddie's "I can't I can't I can't I cant.'' Many does not have the ability to understand why they do what they do, and what has led them to do what they do. You can see the struggle in Eddie's acting , as Charles most probably didn't know why either. Best leading actress and actor, brought audience into the mood. Also, very well written and set out. Though it was very brief in the movie, but Amy and Charles friendship was very well presented.

    Gripping and powerful
Events in the US hospital system lead to suspicions that a medical professional is killing patients deliberately.

I went into this movie without preconceptions, and without realising it tells a true story. It does it powerfully and often grippingly. The strength here are central performances by Eddie Redmayne and Jennifer Chastermaine , who are quite simply amazing, and pretty much every other performance is good too. The story is told coherently and seriously, has the ring of authenticity about it, and I suppose it might be taken as an indictment of cynically run private healthcare systems in the US as well as a tragic sobering and sometimes frightening tale about how easily things, and individuals, can go wrong. Well written and directed, I highly recommend this film.

    Good acting, slow movie
The Good Nurse definitely is one of the better Netflix Movies. It is very minimalistic, most of the time it is just the two main characters in a hospital, but Eddie Redmayne and Jessice Chastain make the most out of it and really carry the movie with their acting. Eddie Redmayne seems to be made for this role. The cast generally was very well picked, every single character just fits with their actor.

The tone is serious and unsettling from beginning to end.

The only real issue is the pacing, the movie is really slow for the first two thirds and too fast toward the end. The slow parts are not just slow but also repetitive, all that time could have been spent on the unraveling at the end instead. The transition from "everyday work" to "suspicion" and finally "apprehension" went way to quickly and only because we had to spend way too much time on "everyday work".

But, overall it was enjoyable, far from perfect but still enjoyable enough to watch it once.

    Oscars, please!
I thought about the acting in this movie for DAYS. I am an actor myself, and certain scenes from "The Good Nurse" could serve as master-classes for acting with a scene partner, performing interesting monologues, etc. The camera could stay on Eddie for 2 or 3 minutes and I couldn't take my eyes off of him. Every nuance of his performance was both informative, mysterious, and captivating. It leaves you wondering, what more to this character is there? There is SO much going on in the performances of both lead actors. In every scene they have together (and especially during the climax of the plot) I was gripped to the edge of my chair, studying their brilliant performances carefully. Oscars, please!

Great acting from Jessica Chastain and even Redmayne.
Movies based on true events, that's always more interesting to watch certainly when the story is that captivating. I've never been a big fan of Eddie Redmayne, and I certainly don't get what women see in him as he apparently is a sex symbol (my wife doesn't get it either by the way) but it's only fair to say he did a good job in The Good Nurse. Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain both carry this movie, their acting is the true success of this movie. Jessica Chastain, an actress I always enjoy watching, was great playing her character. The cinematography was fine, nothing special, just fine. The story is again a bit scandalous, it shows again that the pharmaceutical business is rotten to the bone, certainly in the USA. A gripping story based on a true events, give it a shot.

Very good actors, very stupid script
This movie lost me early on. An elderly woman (she looks about 112 years old, but is 77, according to the movie) has had an adverse reaction to a medication, and she is in the hospital. Her face is literally peeling off, and she couldn't look any closer to death's door if she were a zombie on The Walking Dead. Next thing we know, she's (gasp!) dead. Which is about as surprising as when I realize my fingernails have grown since I last clipped them. So how does it make ANY sense that in the next scene, homicide detectives are at the hospital to investigate the death??? This is but one of several impossibly stupid moments in The Good Nurse. If homicide detectives looked into every hospital fatality, we'd need approximately 1,000 times as many homicide detectives. Later, we find out the psychopath nurse (Redmayne) has been killing people by injecting insulin and digoxin into saline bags. So what happens when the cops learn that Redmayne has been signing out dozens of unauthorized doses of insulin and digoxin? Well, they don't arrest him, of course! They let him continue to go into work. Luckily for them, Chastain is a good nurse, but apparently an even better homicide detective, since they basically let her join their team at headquarters. Like I said, stupid script. Very very stupid.

    Good acting, slow movie
The real life story is very sad and a compelling story. I feel like this movie makes one of the biggest serial killers in the world look like a decent human being which is a little frustrating. People complain about Dahmer but they didn't make him look like a nice guy like they have with Cullen.

Anyway...Redmayne does such a good job in this. He's a great actor. Chastain also did really well.

I'm all for a slow movie as long as it's still thrilling or mesmerising, but this one kinda just dragged out a bit. Long periods of silence and the lighting was so muted and dark the whole time, even though it wasn't a 'moody' psychological thriller type movie.
