charl2001 - 11 November 2023 Two star-crossed lovers and their affecting and authentic tale of woe Every time I savor a tragic ending movie, I always got the vicarious depression and being suffused with melancholy throughout the ensuing days, as did Firebird when I was finished watching it. I must say, some scenes of Sergey and Roman, for example, with them cuddling and caressing intimately amidst the sapphire-like ocean, were so sublime and breathtaking. Also there are heartbreaking scenes, for example, Sergey crouching and weeping alone in the small guest room, where Roman ruthlessly left all of Sergey stuff. As for Luisa and her son, the unfair treatment really tugged at my heartstrings. I was really touched when Sergey left Roman's airplane gift for Luisa's son. From my vantage point, the plane was not merely an object to Sergey but a profound symbol embodying their love, their promise and his Lieutenant Roman. There is no sin in true love. There are no words that can define love. Unfeignedly appreciate the whole crew for putting this true story on screen. It's an ineffable story I will never forget.
david-87354 - 16 December 2022 Beautiful A beautiful movie: scenically, and in its casting of Tom Prior especially. This is a riveting love story, although of course, in those times and this setting, it cannot end well. But it is well worth watching. It is set in an era, location and context about which there is so little else, and gives an insight into the power and intrigue of the love that dare not speak its name anywhere in the 1970s, in a place where to this day such love is all too hidden. This should appeal to anyone who has lived in a world where love must hide, and should be watched by any who has had no need to hide it. Love shines through....
rossoistanbull - 22 July 2022 Imagine a movie 'lived on time'. An excellent film in which a feeling that managed to stay warm during the Cold War years is perfectly processed from the queer point of view of "Love and Affection". When you actually watch the movie, you go into it, empathize with the characters. Definitely to be watched(!).
avesthianu - 16 June 2022 Beautiful, heartbreaking😭 It's a beautiful, heartbreaking love story which will leave your heart aching in the end.. Beautiful message that Love is love no matter what the gender is... Nd the fact that it's based on a True Love story... The love between Roman nd Sergey is so beautifully depicted without any vulgarity... Masterpiece. Actors ZEGORDNI OLEG nd TOM PRIOR's acting is a treat for eyes.
