    A reboot worth reviewing! 8/10
I can say with certainty that this is the best movie I have ever seen about chipmunks. By a pretty huge margin.

That might not seem like a huge compliment, after all, there isn't much competition. But honestly I found this film to be so much fun from start to finish, though I do think the first half was just slightly stronger in terms of the writing and jokes.

So far it's the only one of these sort of 'meta' 'self-aware' movies that I've ever actually enjoyed- and I really didn't expect to. Most of the time I find that sort of thing absolutely cringe inducing, but I do think it was done well in this one. This is what Space Jam 2 wishes it was, and I think somebody could probably compare the two to see what worked and didn't.

The writing was good for the most part and the humour was snappy- I actually laughed genuinely a few times which is almost unheard of for me, I usually have to force a laugh at comedies like that really awkward scene in Joker.

Something I found particularly enjoyable in the film was the variety of animation styles of all the different characters. The 'clay' man, sock puppet and 'uncanny' strange 3D people were a really pleasant surprise to see.

Apart from that, there are a few things in the story that we've seen many times before, and you can predict quite a bit of the plot, but honestly the film brought me such a jolly, joyful feeling that I couldn't really be too annoyed about it.

Overall, this movie is just a lot of fun, with an enjoyable story and lots of genuinely funny moments to appreciate. Also, extra points for including 'Ugly Sonic' as more than just a cameo! That pleased me greatly...
