mr and mrs smith action movie hidden gem
I decided to pick this movie up and all i can say is wow this is one hidden gem of a movie.

    Has a good story plot.

The movie is like mr and ms smith with out the millions dollar budget.

And have to say they pulled it off big time with this action fast movie.

Natalie Burn is a amazing actress who did a really good job playing her character. The Bride.

What she does in the movie is mind blowing and funny and all the other actors did a amazing job portraying there characters in the movie.

It these type of movies that keep the film industry alive hopefully we can see a follow up to this movie.

Decent premise, bad execution, yet some salvageable stuff in there.
What a strange movie... The idea is like a blending of Ready or Not but without the extra twist... and some martial art revenge movie.

On paper the idea is fine but the execution was not really there. The first issue of the movie is its runtime. At 1h53 it does overstay its welcome. It should had been 90 minutes and there should had been A LOT more actions.

I am a bit familiar with Natalie Burn. Saw her in a movie call Acceleration with Dolph Lundren and just as in this one, she was a legit tough action actress. You know, sometimes you watch a famous mainstream actress having some fight scenes and they either look bad or hidden by jump cuts, CGI or both, despite huge budget and famous directors. Well not with her here. She seem as legit as they come. I have not look around for her background but she was probably a stunt double originally or she trained in Martial Arts for a while cause every fights appeared legit as it come. Her acting without being exeptional was more than fine for the movie style as well.

The problem was the action sequences were way too spaced out and way too short. Cam Gigandet who pretty much play the main antagonist of the movie pulls out an over the top performance kinda like Raul Julia in Street Fighter, having fun with the role, but if it was funny at first, i grew tired of it really fast. It seem to always revolve around the same thing and the charm of an M. Bison is just not there.

The antagonists of the movie all have their own traits physically (races, hairs, size etc) but they all dressed the same and beside Cam and the Dwarf character, they are all extremely forgivable personality wise.

The movie mostly all happen in one location with flashbacks in 2 more very basic ones, and they never do anything crazy with them. As i said tough, if the budget was very small and they had to make cuts on some things like locations, at least the few short fights there was in were done well and looked good, even if they were not memorable at all. But i feel these likely also suffered from limited budget and its why they were so shorts and basics.

Its not that the movie looks cheap, as it does not, but if you watch enough movies like i do, you notice things like basic set pieces, limited in numbers, not too much fancy action scenes etc etc.

Ultimately the movie does give you a reason why everything is happening as the story progress, but it stay in some very basic territories. Or in other words, its paper thin. You never really care for much of these characters or get interested in their background. And at nearly 2h run time, you think they would had invest some of that runtime on that.

For me it was really one of those movie were i wanted really much to love it, but the movie kept reminding me i should not. It really could had been an indy darling if done better and thats probably whats the saddest about it.

That said ill go with 5/10 for an average movie. Its nowhere as badly made as some peoples make it out to be, but there is so many issues that prevent the movie from being much enjoyable and you are constantly reminded of them. I almost gave it a 6/10 because at times i was interested in it, but too much time i said to myself "can something happen like...now...please".

Its really a movie i have no interest to rewatch, even tough i bough it (digitally on sale) for 7$. I almost rented it for 3$ instead, but at the price different i was like why not... But now i wished i had saved those 4$ + taxes. I am somebody who watch tons of low budget DTV stuff often and my "entertainement bar" is pretty low. Just to give you an idea. I am the target audience for that. And yet the movie didn't really convince me more than that.

I do want to give one last praise for Natalie Burn tough. I think with a bigger budget, better script, she could be a solid B-movie action star in the vein of Scott Adkins or Michael Jai White kinda.

    Shrugs.
This film is similar to Ready or Not (2019), which I haven't actually seen (yet), but after having partially seeing this I somewhat feel like I understand the gist of the plot.

Okay, so going into this film, here's where I base my reviews on: (1) plot, (2) cinematic elements, (3) character building and likability, (4) intent, and (5) execution. So, let's start off with the plot, it was in my opinion garbage and unnecessary. It simply wasn't strong enough to be a film. The plot is actually stupid. The cinematic elements were good (filming quality), which is easily obvious between poorly filmed movies. Yes, the movie itself is low budget but the filming quality is not. I was surprised that I recognized many of the actors in the film, some that I hadn't seen in much of anything in a long time so it was refreshing to see some recognizable faces.

Then comes intent, why would a husband be angry to come after his wife by getting his friends/groomsmen to track her down? I get him being hurt but to this extent? I don't entirely buy the concept. Then again, people are unpredictable so I digress. For me, this film falls flat, it lacks, it just wasn't attention-grabbing because the storyline was poor. I couldn't watch the film in its entirety because at about halfway through, it became drawn out and boring.

I rate it 5/10. No more, no less.
