    pretty picture perfect
I thought this film was a perfectly paced, wonderful film. While quickly revealing the life this couple lived together, they most importantly showed Priscilla's perspective by presenting her intense depth of character. The vulnerability no one saw that she shared to be with the man she loved, despite his fame. This is a beautiful work of art by Sofia Coppola that fully encapsulates you into the tenderness and love that Priscilla held for Elvis and lets us wander through her life behind the scenes. This heartbreaking life Priscilla resided in for so long was perfectly portrayed to be isolating, dull and degrading yet "perfect" through the simplistic, pastel cinematography. Well done!!! I recommend for anyone who is a hopeless romantic, in love with historically famous icons and loves a movie with cinematography that will visually feed your soul.

    Epic Mediocrity
How can you tell the difference between a gifted and talented filmmaker from one that isn't? Compare Baz Luhrman's film about Elvis with this poor effort by SC. You might argue that Elvis was a larger than life kind of figure. True, but BL used a wide variety of techniques to present the complexity of his subject in insightful and memorable ways.

Even if the stylistic approach is understatement and simplicity, the choices must dig for meaning and be creative. Biopics present unique challenges because the audience is already familiar with the general details.

Somehow, the Elvis film engaged the viewer when the Coppola film did not.

    Boring
I watched the mini series "Elvis and Me" in the late 80's, which is based on the same book that this movie is apparently based on. "Elvis and Me" is far better. It had me crying by the end. I was so connected to the characters because of the actors' performances; not so with this bland movie. The main actor mumbles and I couldn't understand most of what he said. The actress portraying Priscilla had no personality. They could've gone into more detail regarding their marriage rather than the boring years leading up to it when Elvis and Priscilla were rarely together. This is one film you could skip and you wouldn't be missing out.
