    Top Gun: Memberberries
If you like being constantly hit in the face with "hey, do you remember the first movie, this happened in the first movie!" with the subtlety of a truck carrying sledgehammers, by all means watch this movie.

The plot is incredibly shallow and involves getting a group ready for one single strike. That's it, that's the whole movie. No twists, no surprises, you immediately know how the film ends after the first 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, you're treated to every single old man returns to familiar place cliché.

It's nicely shot and a good flick to turn your brain off to, which is why it gets a pass.

    Better than the original!
This was the last film I watched at the cinema and I've just watched it again, it's so good.

Why is it good? Because it gives everyone one who purchased a ticket or streamed it, exactly what they wanted: strong performances, fantastic action and an engaging plot! Simple, sweet and absolutely fitting... Oh, and it also packs a nostalgic punch!

If you liked anything about the original top gun movie, you will love Top Gun: Maverick.

No spoilers here, just encouragement. Are modern day movies making you want to go live in a cave? Yes? Then check this movie out! Tom Cruise is the great action hero and Top Gun: Maverick is the last great action movie.

    Watch it.

Tom Cruise. that's all you have to say
I really Didn't think they could pull off a sequel to a movie that affected so many in different ways. For instance : the increase in enrollment was not really intended to be a pitch for the Navy , But it was a Tremendous SUCCESS for the NAVY. My Dad (rip) served in the Navy and after watching it with me he said " I Wish I had been born in the time frame of the movie even though I had always intended to serve my country and had I. Been born NOW , The chance to fly that Awesome plane would have made it so Instead of work , it would have been seen as Fun ! Imagine being Paid to Kick Ass in the Sky !!!! My Dad ended up on a battleship and was a Gunner , but I Know that he would have been a Great pilot. He Never had a problem with heights....in fact I got an instinctive No Fear of heights ...and being a Fearless woman. Who had a Love of rides that others feared and wouldn't go on , I I put them ALL to Shame. From the age of 4 , yes. 4 years old I would run to the ride ( the faster the better , with enough tickets to go in and STAY on till the tickets ran out. Tom Cruise did a hell of job and he definitely was Destined to BE. MAVERICK. A Great script and an actor who could and did leave a legacy that will forever and he was PAID to fly. Today you can Fly as he did but it will cost you big time. It's. $2500-$5000 cause I looked into the cost of doing it but only Money prevented me. Before accepting the script & his role , he wanted to experience the adrenaline rush for himself and I. Remember the pilots name. It was Bozo. Surely that word does NOT depict or describe anything or anyone connected to this movie.....ALL who were connected to this film did justice and inspired Many men and women to enlist. Probably No Top Gun #3. But I am 😊. That I watched 2 intense , and beautifully. Filmed. Movies . Well Done !

    Formulaic.
I don't write reviews much, but I don't understand why this movie got such a high rating. It's predictable and Tom Cruise is pretty much the same character in all his movies. The whole premise with Goose's son going from angry at old guy to understanding him has been done in so many other movies. The beach scene is useless except to show everyone's muscles. The "admirals" are generic bureaucrats that could've been played by anyone. The ending action scene was not surprising in the least. Sure some of the flying moves were great, but how many times do we need to see Tom Cruise fly upside down? I get the nostalgia, but man, besides liking the fact that they gave Val Kilmer a scene, it was really disappointing.

    I feel the need...
'Top Gun: Maverick (2022)' is, in many ways, exactly what you'd expect it to be. It's an earnest, almost cheesy ode to the American military that places emphasis on human pilots (as opposed to drones) who are able to disobey orders when necessary and never seem to get properly sanctioned for doing so. All the themes you'd expect - such as pilots vs officers, humans vs drones and Tom Cruise vs ageing - are here, although the picture is disappointingly decidedly less gay than its predecessor (to an almost revisionist degree). It's jingoistic, albeit slightly less jingoistic than the first flick, and clunky when it comes to everything other than its high-flying set-pieces. It's predictable and it gets off to a pretty rocky start, too. Eventually, though, you realise that you're not thinking about its problems, that they're not even relevant anymore. You realise that you're having a blast and that, ultimately, that's what matters. Every single time the characters get into their cockpits, the film transforms into an invigorating and expertly choreographed action extravaganza. Though the fact that they did most of this stuff for real doesn't inherently make it good, it's undeniably far more effective than any visual effects method of achieving a similar result because it never once requires suspension of disbelief. There are, of course, special effects involved in some of the sequences but they're so seamless and secondary to the overwhelming practicality of it all that they feel just as natural as that which was really present on set. The effects do what they're supposed to do: enhance rather than replace. In an era where some films can't even convincingly put five people together in a single room, practicality like this is even more important than ever before. Even if you aren't actively thinking about the very real ground whizzing past the very real people in the very real planes flying at very really dangerous speeds, you feel it on a subconscious level. There's nothing quite like seeing gravity yank an actor's face so much that they're almost unrecognisable, or two planes dance with each other like ballerinas in the sky. It's incredibly exciting, and credit has to go those involved with transforming arial stunts into actual action scenes. The flick had to be incredibly bad for the environment, though, which is obviously a major downside. It's worth noting that Tom Cruise is actually kind of great in a couple of the dialogue scenes, genuinely delivering a brilliant performance in the piece's most emotional moment. He may be known more for his apparent willingness to die for his craft, but he's a solidified star for a reason and it's important to remember that his earlier roles relied on his acting abilities more than his action abilities (and, in a way, aren't they one in the same?). In the end, the movie is a ton of fun that's simultaneously generic and one-of-a-kind. If it had a better story with more focused character arcs, it could have been one of the all-time greats. As it is, it's an incredible achievement that's often enthralling and deserves most of the praise it's been receiving.

    The years weren't kind
In my mind Top Gun hadn't aged well after watching YouTube video after YouTube video "but" the years of not watching actually had the reverse effect because Top Gun Maverick is a movie i didn't want but became the movie i needed. I will never be swayed by those negative know nothing look back reviews again. Thank you Tom Cruise for your years of service to the business i love, the business of escapism, the business of entertainment.. Top Gun Maverick is my movie of 2022 because it's a movie from another time,a time of no holds barred seat of your pants storytelling and it's from the time of my teenage years. I went back to revisit the original to find an old friend i never knew i had.

    I'm Ready To Enlist
Don't think, Just Do! Top Gun Maverick, is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It is just such a feel good movie, that hits all the right spots. I suggest watching Top Gun first (just to have the back ground story, but it really isn't necessary). As far as sequels go this one blows most of them away, and all movies should take a page out from this book. What's really crazy for me is that I had no intention of ever watching this film, but my husband wanted to see it, and I know that he's watched movies with me that weren't his cup of tea. So I sat, knowing that I wouldn't enjoy it. Wow, how wrong was I. It forced me to change my perception. This movie is thrilling from the beginning until the very end, with a touch of romance thrown in. The flight scenes are amazing, and the story is truly engaging. I don't want to give anything a way, but hell it almost made me want to go and enlist. Tom Cruise is the Man! I wasn't a fan of his before but I am now. I wouldn't be surprised if recruitment into the armed forces goes up after viewing. Thank you, Tom. It's an amazing experience.

    Need Adrenaline! Here we go
Start to the end, for anyone, who has watched the 30+ year old part 1( going by approx. Timeline), this is a great watch and filled with goosebumps vibes across! For any movie to have a sequel some few decades down the line, Tom Cruise still feels the same young, energetic, "aviators " and "motorcycle " inspiring character!

Hats off to him, the crew, the direction, this sequel definitely serves to be one of the best movies of 2022!

The sound and video are just too good and I'm guessing a lot of scenes must have been done by Tom Cruise himself.

You have a Dolby Atmos at home- Icing on the cake for you!

    FANTASTIC!
I, traditionally, am not a Tom Cruise fan. As a matter of fact, I WANTED to hate the movie. But this movie gets you from the start and manages to hold you all the way through. Somehow you like Tom, ok love (but don't tell) him. They have done a phenomenal job with a movie that fans will never tire of. The flight scenes were edge-of-the-seat thrilling as well as funny when the flyers stomachs were churning. MUSIC? Lady Gaga puts the dot on the exclamation point with the song closing out the movie. But the photography was really spectacular. When Tom was looking off into space with that dreamy Tom-look, you could still see what was behind him, like photography was really important. The entire movie had a dreamy-calm to the background while ripping into you with speed. It is nice to see a film that you can take the kids to and really enjoy yourself.

Back to an age of unbridled fun.
Loved it, loved the newness mixed with nostalgia. Done perfectly. If you are picking fault with this movie, you clearly have no fun left in your life. Sit back, enjoy the ride. Mr Cruise delivers a near perfect blockbuster / popcorn , lose your worries for a coupe of hours gem! . I had been wanting to see this for ages and finally got round to it, and I'm kicking myself that it took so long. I was truly touched by it. I smiled, laughed, cried and held my breath. The care in which this pays respect to its origins while bringing us into the now is done beautifully and I cannot emphasise this enough! SEE IT, and feel the need, the need for speed one more time.
