At least there's plenty of lovely Italian scenery.
I've enjoyed the previous Equalizer movies and who doesn't enjoy a good "putting right the wrongs of the world" with a good bit of bad-guy battering. So, I hoped for a good result from the third instalment.

The Equalizer 3 attempts to continue the legacy of its predecessors but unfortunately falls short. While the franchise's fans might have hoped for an electrifying conclusion to the trilogy, the film instead delivers a sluggish narrative that feels more like a cash grab than a genuine effort to tell a compelling story.

McCall continues his vigilante ways, this time to rescue the Italians. The move seems quite slow to get going - most of the first half is McCall just enjoying his cups of tea served on a napkin.

There's very little plot or story development. McCall is never in genuine peril, which made the story less engaging and suspenseful.

One small thing bugged me, The CIA agent McCall contacts initially seems to be working phones in a call type centre operation, but then next minute she's a field operative investigating in Italy.

On the upside, there's plenty of lovely Italian scenery.

Fun movie, with one big flaw
This movie is fun, good vibe, nice screenplay, great acting. Casting works very well.

It has one big flaw. The hero is never in any real danger. He's kind of a Mary Sue. He's overpowered.

Sure, there's some external stakes - the people of the town he's come to love. They are under threat.

But himself, physically? He wins every fight he gets into. His new girlfriend doesn't get kidnapped, nobody ever knocks him out, or forces him into an awkward situation he needs to get out of.

In fact, he places himself in these situations, deliberately, multiple times during this movie, because he knows he's in full control.

I guess it works as a power fantasy. But good writing.. not really.

Still, enjoyable, and worth a watch if you're into these revenge type movies.

    Pretty Good Overall [8/10]
My Live Reaction / Review for The Equalizer 3 (2023). I really enjoyed the first movie and also the second movie was good but not as good as the first one. Damn the movie starts with some really brutal fight scenes, give me all the gory stuff please. Robert is lucky that someone cared enough to get him to a doctor. Robert's injury seems serious, he cant even walk properly. Robert is getting ready to face tha mafia, cant wait for the big showdown. I love Robert's OCD. Is this lady flirting with Robert? She seems nice. The police officer is now a victim too, that sucks, he seems like such a nice dude. I wanna see what the police officer will do about it. Will he face the mafia or stay silent? Maybe he will need Robert's help to fight the mafia? Robert is starting to feel like he found a place to live and he likes it. Time for Robert to do something, to face those who are hurting the people, Robert's people. Love it. And just like that Robert ended them, very satisfying but it was short and sweet, now I want more. The fight scenes towards the end were ok but I expected more gore. Overall the movie was pretty good, better than the second one in my opinion but not as good as the first one. My rating is 8/10.
