this was made for the sad trans teens :)
This was made for the trans kids who grew up with tumblr and creepypastas as their source of comfort (lmao), not a grown white man named david who thinks he's a movie critic. I can't get this film out of my head, it's comforting in a weird quiet classmate type of way. The soundtrack is incredible, the acting is great, the lighting is absolutely fire, and overall i was left crying for days after my first time watching this. Thank you, jane schoenbrun, for making people like me feel seen and loved. It's for sure not for your average slasher horror enthusiast, so "keep an open mind" is all the advice i can really give.

No Horror Movie, Boring and Confusing Plot
First movie of all 1,155 I've watched I didn't understand. The plot is confusing, there's no clarity in the story and you don't know exactly what's happening here (nor at the end).

Slow. Soooo slow. Unnecessary slow. The conversations are full of silences that don't have any sense. It looks you are reading a book that is full of blank pages. That slowness is one of the reason that at certain points you simply disconnect, and you mind goes outside the movie.

No horror. This is not a horror movie. There no scene that makes you think you are in front of a horror movie. Please change the genre of this movie because this was the reason I watched this movie.

In other words, I watched a horror movie that's not a horror movie, extremely slow that makes me want to fall sleep and with an story that was confusing.

Maybe this is not a movie, but an experiment they certainly fail.

    Deceptive marketing
A24 is known as the cool movie company, so some people will rate every movie of theirs highly just so that they can be seen as cool.

After 40 something minutes of watching this movie, I went to the internet to find motivation to keep watching. I checked the director's bio on Wikipedia where she says "It's actually quite comforting to embrace incoherence." If I knew that before starting the movie, I wouldn't have bothered with it.

I then went on to read the plot of the movie, which confirmed that stopping was the right decision.

This bad review is the fault of the people who made the trailer and the people who billed it as horror. If the trailer was honest, and the billing was accurate, I wouldn't have bothered with this movie and this review wouldn't exist.

To compare this to dog crap would be an insult to the dog
This was literally garbage. Would rather watch paint dry. Jesus Christ I cant believe I wasted my time driving to the movie theater to watch this (even though it was free with my AMC pass).

I have 400 more characters to type but do not want to waste it reliving the memory of this dumpster fire excuse of a movie and embarrassment those of us in the theater felt.

Instead, let's all take a moment to breathe. Deep oxygen rich breaths. Lets take a moment to be grateful for life, our family, our health, and to be living in a country where I can openly criticize this dog crap waste of film. I hope the producers and directors of this film never make another movie again!

    Pink Opaque
"I Saw the TV Glow" (2024), so far, has proven to be the most surprising and unexpected horror film of the year, addressing important themes in a metaphorical and conceptual way, exploring nostalgia as the main point for the unfolding of the plot.

The aesthetics of the work are very well planned, mixing the "feeling of nostalgia" with pink tones during the progression of the scenes, creating a striking visual identity, a rare factor in teen horror films. The soundtrack, one of the film's biggest highlights and worthy of numerous accolades, matches perfectly with the 80s and 90s theme, contributing to the immersion in the atmosphere. The strong psychological horror does not disappoint, creating desperate scenes without resorting to gore or gratuitous violence. Many LGBTQIA+ debates, symbolisms and allegories are raised between the lines of the project, addressing themes such as gender transition, self-discovery and repressed identity. This can make the film confusing for audiences who are not the target of the project, limiting the understanding of viewers who are not used to the context of the plot between the lines.

Disregarding its concepts, the plot is not supported solely by the explicit story, making the experience complex for a viewer who is just looking for fun. The public who consumes the work needs an open mind and a good interpretative eye to enjoy the film without the need for future research on the internet. However, this factor in no way removes the artistic value of the project.
