coltsdave13 - 4 July 2024 Statham was great. Everyone else was terrible, minus Rashad. Towards the end, the President of the United States is left without security even after an explosion outside the home she was in. Extremely far fetched script.
Statham managed to track down every person and building he was searching for within one day. Luckily this international phishing company was located within a short driving distance. Nice little concept, with very poor casting, writing, and directing. As everyone else has stated, agent Parker was easily the worst. I watched it on Prime, so it didn't cost me anything, and it killed some good time.
iwasspock - 2 July 2024 Bad day at the office Whenever there is a Statham movie I'm afraid it will be rubbish with here and there a few exceptions. But hey I gave it a go merely because Morgan Freeman is not in a movie.
This one started allright and I thought ' this could be good'
Oh boy , was I wrong.
Whoever wrote this script and whoever agreed to direct this monster of nonsense is beyond me.
This is very hard tryin' to give us John Wick with a twist by setting this into a political scheme , but it doesn't work does it .
Minute by minute you get more and more over the top action scenes where Statham does not get a scratch or bullit which reminds of that other one being Commando with Swarzenegger.
Then you have an FBI which is apparently extremely stupid to the bone and with acts that don't make any sense .
And then actors who perform very poorly.
The only good is maybe the cinematography.
Bad script , bad acting , bad story , bad day at the office.
rebeltaz-18705 - 30 June 2024 Potentially Great Movie Ruined With the Usual I am a huge fan of Jason Statham. I have seen, and enjoyed, every single movie that he has ever been in. This would have been another excellent entry in his filmography if it hadn't been ruined with all the usual .... choices. Ten minutes into the film, the FBI agent on the scene says to her partner, "so we're just going to ignore the big, bianco guy in her living room?" Of course, she wasn't... bianco that is. Already I can see where this is going. It is 2024, after all. It only goes down hill from that.
Every single bad guy - EVERY. SINGLE. ONE - is bianco. Every single good guy - EVERY. SINGLE. ONE - with the exception of Statham himself, is not, and that depends on your view of Statham as being good or bad. That is not an exaggeration. That is not hyperbole. That is LITERALLY the casting choice.
The main girl - the one who made the comment at the beginning, is nothing but a low rent Pam Grier wanna be. From the hairdo to the clothing.
Oh... and let's not forget that just for good measure, we are introduced to the President of the United States. MADAM President.
And while we're on the subject of females... you'll love the Active Beekeeper. SHE is a 98 pound soaking wet Mary Jane. Throughout the movie, Statham is taking down men twice his size with one punch, but of course this 98 pound goddess takes hit after hit and keeps coming back for more, without so much as a scratch.
Then there is all of the weapons issues. Nobody holds a rifle like these people do at rest unless they are posing for a movie poster. It's uncomfortable and impractical. You don't aim a rifle like they do, either - with the scope right up against your eye. That's a good way to come back with a broken eye socket. Could have at least hired someone who knew something about guns to make it look somewhat accurate. Oh... an speaking of guns... I know that the bad guys are always bad shots in movies - I get it, otherwise the movie would be over in 10 minutes - but come on, man. A dozen fully automatic rifles firing at Statham and he just outruns every single bullet.
The only GOOD thing I can say about this is that the plot itself was interesting and could have been good had it been cast NATURALLY and not using a checklist.
BoredMovieWatcher - 13 June 2024 Stupidly fun The Beekeeper is one of those nonsense action movies that are just there for the ride. Just watching Jason Statham kick ass with his non-lethal tactics like The Equalizer just makes for some awesome fun.
Yeah the movie doesn't make sense story wise. Guy goes on a revenge spree to exact justice on a mob run scam call center operation ran by some douchebag nepo baby kid with the backings of the ultra wealthy and powerful. In fact, you could really just ignore all the FBI subplot and twists of who runs the operation and just stick with Statham kicking petty people's asses.
It's just dumb fun to see Statham doing what Statham does: make his fights look cool. So don't expect some serious coherence to sense or some John Wick-verse, and just turn your brain off to see Statham exact revenge on scumbags.
mtmaynor - 1 June 2024 But it showed so much promise. I love the opening of this film, the character building exercises they went through clearly foretold where the film was going and it was going to a really good place. . But quickly it became almost formula driven with just absurd action scene after unbelievable action scene. You don't get the sense that the characters have built any trust, or communication that would help them both move forward.
Ultimately, after the first 15 minutes of the film, the action becomes like an algorithm, punching through movies like John Wick, Die Hard and just about every movie done by Jackie Chan. It just became so unbelievable and you felt no compassion for any of the characters, and ultimately the film just left you empty.
I really had high hopes, that this would break that genre and honestly, the topic was amazing, however, other than the topic, and the first 15 minutes of the film, there was not much else to enjoy.
