This is a wholesome family movie
The crocodile was so cute and adorable when he was purchased by the owner of the house. Then after 18 months he got really big. This is most geared to families with kids and it is very good. The main character who initially acquired Lyle has more tricks up his sleeve when it came to dealing with the grumpy neighbor. At first I thought the actor was Paul Giamatti as he resembles him. I think that would have been a better choice for the role but the actor did a serviceable job being a grump, then you have the primms which consist of the other male actor and Constance Wu whom I still have a crush for. She was okay in her role and surprised me with her dancing ability. Too bad we don't see much of her anymore after the comments she made about fresh off the boat. She should have just paid her dues like everyone else. The kid was good also and the other extras were just as good. What I don't understand at the end is when it was discovered that the grumpy guy stoled the documents to the house why wasn't he put in prison, that is a pretty major crime if you ask me. My final thoughts is that this is a family friendly film and is worth the watch with your kids.

With a pinch of magic atmosphere
    (Warning: May Contain Spoilers.)

What's up, everybody. Today, I'm gonna tell you something about the next movie I added to my watch list, and that is Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.

Well, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is about a crocodile that can sing and walk on the hind legs. He was bought by a magician Hector, which got interested in him just because of his singing. They made a good team, but when Hector wanted him to sing in front of the audience, Lyle couldn't make it. Hector then left Lyle alone in his house for several months. This caused the crocodile meeting an interesting family, that just moved into the house... Let's begin with the story. I think that was well-made and relatable. It was nice seeing Lyle becoming a part of the family, getting new friends. But also the plot twist was pretty harsh. This movie felt like a comfortable fairytale. It actually reminded kinda of those old good movies, e.g. Babe (I mean the movie about the pig).

The animation of the crocodile and other animals itself was quite good. In my opinion, the animated cat could be done smoother, but that's just my opinion.

TBH, I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the message the movie tries to tell us. I liked how Lyle tried to most of the time to help others, no selfishness or avarice.

The last thing I'd like to say is that I liked those songs that Lyle sang. My brain couldn't stop replaying some of them, lol. They were just cool.

    P. S.: The friend of the boy was awesome. She behaved like a true friend. Wish there were more people like her... I give it 8/10.

    Lyle, Lyle, Not My Style
The sweet children's book, complete with a loveable crocodile and a playful story has been brought to the big screen. Unfortunately, I felt as though very few of these positive characteristics were preserved in this adaptation. The story failed to interest me, the characters failed to surprise me, and even the once-cute crocodile failed to charm me. This movie may work for some audiences, but I unfortunately, had trouble finding a single reason to invest in this movie.

As the movie Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile began, I immediately found myself plunged into the ridiculous story. A failing magician living in New York, played by Javier Bardem, stumbles upon a singing crocodile and for a second, believes this creature will be his saving grace. Unfortunately for him, Lyle the crocodile fails to overcome his nerves when performing in front of an audience. Lyle was now of no use to the magician, and was left behind, only to be discovered by a boy that had just moved to the big city with his parents. The boy is quick to become friends with the beast, but as the two of them go on wacky adventures together, the boy realizes he won't be able to hide this singing crocodile from the world for long.

The premise sounds fun, and in some ways, it is. Unfortunately, due to flat characters, dull writing, and strange crocodile animations, I found myself very disappointed. Javier Bardem plays the magician, and I consider it a waste that the most skillful actor in the film played the flattest character of them all. The boy and his parents are slightly more interesting, but still gave me few characteristics with which to connect. Finally, Lyle is awkward, and not in an endearing way. His mannerisms and behaviors fell short of charming nine times out of ten.

The production quality and the music performed by the talented Shawn Mendes are decent. But unfortunately, these small triumphs were somewhat dwarfed by larger issues in this movie. Likely by no fault of the visual effects team, poor effects are nothing short of distracting, further removing me from the world that this movie tries to develop.

In summary, Lyle, Lyle Crocodile is built upon playful source material, but seems unable to deliver. It wasn't a horrible experience, but I found myself disappointed that this movie seemed incredibly flat for a movie that should rely heavily on emotion. Next time I sit down to watch a movie from this genre, I hope to see a little more boldness in the writing and a little more heart in the characters. If you're looking for a fun, family film with loveable animal character, I will point you to dozens of classics that are decades old before recommending Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.

    Terrible, boring, flat
How this movie has a 6-start rating is beyond me. Incredibly boring and flat, and even the songs are mediocre at best. You cannot justify this basic, boring movie as "it's for the kids". Even for kids, this movie comes across dumb and empty of any lessons or deeper meaning.

I gave it a 2 out of 10 only because of the amazing Javier Bardem, who probably owed someone a big BIG favor and had to do this movie. I rarely add comments to my ratings, but I'm here to warn you: don't waste your time.

If you still do watch it, expect your soul to leave your body about 10 minutes in, and only come back when you turn it off.

Could be a trigger for people with abandonment issues!
It's a fun little film. Catchy tunes from Shawn Mendes and the cast. Delightful animation of Lyle the crocodile, especially when he was young. And Javier Bardem's theatrical talent is a revelation.

However, I am not sure that this film is entirely safe. In fact, it could be a trigger for people with abandonment issues. We first meet Lyle in a pet store. We are not given the background information but it is clear that he was ripped away from his family and environment and sold for commercial reasons. He was then adopted and loved by Javier Bardem's character, Hector. However, the development of their relationship is underpinned by exploitation and grooming. Hector trained Lyle to be a money-maker for himself. When Lyle was not able to deliver, Hector abandoned him. Leaving hin to fend for himself in the concrete jungle that is New York City.

Lyle eventually discovers unconditional love in the form of Josh Primm and his family but only to be interrupted by Hector's return. More manipulation, exploitation and abandonment. But all is forgiven in the end when Hector turns up in Court with the miraculous title deeds that made everything better.

The movie is very Hollywood in that it ties everything with a big red bow in the end. In the real world, people (especially children) face abandonment, exploitation and manipulation and have to interact with dangerous and self-serving people like Hector. For a child (or an adult) with issues, this film could be triggering. So viewer beware!!!

Awesome and lovely movie, but not flawless
TL;DR: A lovely movie with minor flaws that can easily be shrugged off, a great one to watch with your family.

I'm not a movie professional or a seasoned director, just a regular person who watch movies and occasionally write reviews. I wrote this review solely out of my opinion, therefore if there are words that I spoke wrong, I'd like to apologize beforehand. I've been waiting for this movie since the first teaser, and I finally had a chance to watch it. My expectations were big, and they mostly paid off. The characters are lovely, and of course Lyle is my favorite especially since stage fright is my thing too and I just love crocodiles, lol. Other characters played their role magnificently. The camera angles and scenes are wonderfully shot. The transition from normal dialogues to characters singing are great and smooth, nothing forced. These are the major things in the movie that met my expectations.

Moving on to the flaws, you can say the things I'm going to say are minor flaws, but it could still make the viewer uncomfortable. The first thing is the character introduction and engagements. I feel like some of them are somewhat rushed and slightly give the 'forced' feeling, like how Josh got instantly comfortable with Lyle in the next morning after they first met the night before. For me, the transition for them to get that close is missing, thus giving that forced feeling.

Next is the character involvements. I get that not all characters might be able to sing, but at least they should contribute in it, not just Hector and Lyle. The part where Lyle is forced to be put in the zoo and sings the "carried away" song is the most missed opportunity for other characters to also sing. Other than the singing, one thing that bothers me is how Trudy's part in the whole movie is very little, but keeps appearing until the end of the movie, giving the feeling that she's there to just support the plot, like when Lyle is separated with Josh's family and she suddenly appears to give Josh support out of the blue, and when Lyle is forced on stage to escape the authorities.

The final one that bothers me the most is the execution of some scenes, like when Hector first met little Lyle, did Hector stole Lyle or did he bought him? Or when Lyle is singing the "carried away" song, some previous scenes are being shown again in that part which is kind of silly and feels off. The "jailbreak" scene where Hector, Josh, and Lyle met with the zookeepers are also a bit funny, the officers just awkwardly stood there and held their tasers up while "waiting" for the trio to do something. The stage performance is the most that bothers me, where everyone especially the cops awkwardly froze in place while staring at Lyle and Josh on stage "waiting" for their dialogues to end and finally sing, and when Lyle finally sings, all the stage performers unrelated to his singing performance immediately went on stage and did their choreography like they're meant to perform for Lyle. Last but not least, the court scene. It feels very goofy for some reason, maybe because of the judge clearly showing his emotions on court, I don't know.

Overall, this movie is very fun to watch and of course family friendly despite the mentioned flaws. They can easily be shrugged off since they're mostly minor inconveniences. A really good movie to watch with your family if you have time. 7/10, Lyle best boi.

    10/10
I am a huge fan of Shawn Mendes and I loved this movie because of Shawn Mendes and everytime Shawn Mendes came on screen I screamed "SHAWN MENNDEWNSN OMG" and as you can tell I'm a huge Shawn Mendes fan so I was very excited to watch crocodile Shawn Mendes. But I was disappointed by the lack of Shawn Mendes singing as he is my bestie for life. We've been friends since we were fetuses and since birth we've been like this 🤞

But even though there was a lack of his singing voice I still very much enjoyed this movie but I think everyone I was with at the movie theatre got annoyed at me cause I was yelling so much

    10/10 highly recommended movie.
