Persuasion

Living with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy, Anne Elliot is an unconforming woman with modern sensibilities. I don't understand the hate
I am trying to see Jane Austin fans who are hating around here but I can't. They say it themselves it is an interpretation. There are so many versions of the movie... why would we need the same old?

I think the modern part of the language included were perfectly balanced. Also Dakota did great in this movie, didn't imagine I would rediscover her in a movie like this. I think she saved the movie from being cringey. It is addressed to younger audiences I guess but anyway I enjoyed it even of I love the books and it seems like a mainstream nowadays to hate on any movie made on a classic book. It is not a movie to rewatch often, but it's the second time watching it and I still found it enjoyable.

    Horrible
Don't watch this movie if you have ever read the book.

Main actress is like doing a comic documentary...even a girl whom you ve taken from an England road would do a better job than that American actress.

The main actor is like a puppet. No feelings at all. Not handsome even. Currently I'm living in the UK and I find people who come to collect garbage is more attractive than him. I'm not sure whether anyone in the film crew has read novel "Persuation ".

I think this is really disappointing and useless. In fact most Netflix films a re like that. I gave one star, because I didn't have the option of giving zero.

Only one who has suffered loss can understand Byron
This is the perfect exposition of what makes Jane Austen a great storyteller. Conspiratorial sidebars with the audience, misdirection, repeated reflections of one's own situation in the light of others' experiences. Polite societal norms evaded, moments gathered is the turn of plots... and damning English cultural structure throughout. Brilliant touch, glorious authentic settings, a seemingly static life changed a thousand ways in a flash. It is Jane Austen unparalleled in her considerable writings. And yet very contemporary - of Mr Elliot, played by Henry Golding, Anne says "He's a 10. I never trust a ten in any man". Worth all the tea at Kellynch Hall & China.

Don't be miss guided by the negative reviews!
Take the film for what it is, go in with an open mind, and just enjoy! Not everything has to be "by the book". I have seen many adaptations of Austin's work and this one is just as lovely. A good love story, no matter how you spin it, is a good love story. I find it refreshing, like Bridgerton did, to cast rolls to people based on their TALENT and could bring LIFE to their characters despite their ethnic background. Richard E Grant is great as always, he plays the flighty father with such charm that it keeps you from disliking his character.

I hope you give this film a chance. NOTHING can be worse then the horrific adaptation of Romeo and Juliet with Claire Danes and Leo!! Lol.

    Even better than the book
Austen is all right but this certainly was better than what she could have ever dreamed. Anne is a great character, smart and funny. Mary is hilarious.

Elliot is a ten! (Never trust a ten)

Perfect amount of of tongue in cheek winkedy-wink. Here and there the breaking of the fourth wall. You gotta be in the mood for it but apparently I was.

Did not see that octopus dream coming. So great. Hilarious. Be care about eating cheese too close to bedtime.

The hair styles are interesting too and the wardrobe and set are very colorful.

Not sure why this one is rated so low.

Jane Austen wishes she could write screenplays like this!

    Wow, this was pretty bad
Casting was pretty awful. Dakota could have been much better, but the casting of Wentworth was just a total miss in my opinion. The writing was appalling. "He is a 10"? What? Why did they bother? Thankfully, anyone that has read the book would know what a complete mess this film is. The costumes were bad, the cinematography and the directing. There is so much talent out there, but let someone adapt the film for the screen that has never read the book and this is what you get. I am glad I saw the film, I am sorry that it was a dissappointment to so many. There are some much better filmed versions of this book to be sure.
