Sorry Ethan, you are much better than this.
Convoluted and all over the place. I tried and pushed myself and watched the first 30 mins then had to turn it off. It is very rare of me not to finish a movie, but I could not for the life of me understand, it or follow it. I feel guilty.

The filming was all over the place and the story just didn't flow. Ethan Hawke is such a good actor, Dead Poets Society, Training Day, Gattaca and so many more.

This is an actor who has been nominated for many awards. If I come across a movie with him in it, I will usually watch. So, this was very disappointing, not sure was it me, but then a few other people did not see the light either.

    Unwatchable
I enjoy most films Ethan Hawke is in, but this one is not a fully realized film, rather a hodge podge of thoughts and ideas. Half way thru and I was not even sure what it was about. Unmistakably, the script needed work. The lighting was dark with little contrast. Who and what am I watching? What happened? Perhaps the need for a different perspective would have changed this story. I can't even discuss the main problems with plot because it is devoid of one. To capture the audience's attention you need a sense of emotion, and the simplest of what drives the character. I rather watch a B action flick with Segal. At least it would have entertainment value.

    a blur
Seeing Ethan Hawk playing in an Abel Ferrara movie was a reason to watch it. The remarks at the beginning didn't scare, although I wasn't sure whether it was a joke or a part of the script.

When it Zeros and Ones was over, I was glad about it. In particular the running time was right, although I'm not sure whether it qualifies it for a feature film.

T did a good job at showing how the time during the pandemic was a blur in a lot of ways. On the other hand, it was difficult to follow. As it often is the case in such movies, it was hard to tell whether there was a script or the delivery was used to hide the fact there was none.

    Nothing to get your attention
Three is the worst rating I've ever given a movie on IMDB.

Dark scenes of Hawke wandering around talking to people and doing things that for the most part aren't all that interesting. This is all accompanied by an endless droning music in the background that gets on one's nerves eventually. Some reviewers here have stated the longest they could watch was 10 minutes The best I could do was 45.

    CoVid Brain Fog
Hawke plays a soldier and his brother during a pandemic post-war Rome...but you really don't know what else is going on outside of that. Read all the reviews...and prepare to be lost.
