    A real surprise(some mild spoilers)
Good Luck To You Leo Grande is a 2022 erotic drama starring Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack. The plot follows a lonely retired schoolteacher named Nancy Robinson (Thompson) who lost her husband a few years ago and misses having intimate sex. So she decides to book a hotel room and hire a young gigolo named Leo Grande(McCormack)where she has sex with him. But will she go through with it all?.

Overall it was a real surprise. The story was easy to follow(despite the fact the entire film is set in a hotel room) and the acting was good.

Yes I know the age gap is 34 years between Emma and Daryl but they don't become an item (unlike Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galtzine in The Idea of You,only Hathaway is a 40 year old divorcèe who falls for a pop star that's 24).

    Good film.

Bravest final scene I've ever seen!
... just watching Emma Thompson on Instagram.

Reminded me to out this movie on my Watchlist.

BTW, nice perple from IMDB: Could you please consider a space for generating watchlists - my tianbers Lieblingsschwesterschwager and I use the App Todoist, which is great.

However, I would prefer it right here, maybe next to the "add to fav" heart or/ and as a subsection within AllMyFavMovies... I would definetly pay for a tool like that & I do know enough other BeautifulPeople who would, too.

Thx a lot for listening, and I do understand if you don't publish this one... anywho.

Kind regards Ariane Huppert aka superheldin2028.

I had this reviewed already at the end of last year but for some reason my thoughts were hated so I deleted my review. A very sweet, genuine, fairly awkward at first, yet very worthy of nomination praise! A very different hookup movie I would say Friends with benefits is much better especially in the comedy category. Good Luck to You, Leo Grande is charming and so well made at least for an award season film last year! The best aspect is how down to earth everything is it's quite lovely if there's any flaws it'd be how awkward Emma Thomson is in the beginning. I don't know if anyone will see my review but I would recommend the film.

Good Luck to you as well Nancy.
This indeed was an endearing watch dealing with a sensitive subject in the most matured way possible. Nancy, a retired religious school teacher seeks the help of Leo Grande, a sex worker to feel young again. She has never had an orgasm in life, was loyal to her husband for 31 years & post passing of her husband, she seeks the pleasure she had always missed. The story moves forward with the three meetings for the duo & the way they find comfort in each other.

The first two acts superbly captures the vulnerability of Nancy, her insecurity with respect to her own body, her age & her needs. The way Leo helps her open up followed by her newfound eagerness in life, towards Leo. From a person with full of self doubt to the one willing to accept herself. This is exactly where the movie stood out. The characters too are well fleshed out, immensely likable & not to mention, well performed.

I am in love with emma thompson
Just two people in a room having conversation and yet the movie holds me till the end and makes me completely invested in their relationship and conversation. The acting performance by both the lead actors emma Thompson and daryl McCormack was amazing, but special mention to emma thompson. She just becomes the character completely. It's her performance and her screen presence that holds us till the end. She amazingly shows the change in the emotional state of the character at each point of time and it's so nice of her to do such a bold and different character that many would have been reluctant to do. The cinematography is amazing, even though 90 percent of the movie happens in a room the camera angles never feel repeated or boring. The music was good, it conveyed the emotions the characters were going through. The writing is amazing, even though it's a small subject, it gets us invested in the story, the character arc was amazing.

All around, I definitely enjoyed the movie.

    I made a list
Nancy (Emma Thompson) is a retire school teacher. She taught religion and ethics to disinterested middle school children with strict unchanging curriculum. A couple years following the death of her "missionary only" spouse, Nancy decides to spend money on Leo Grande (Daryl McCormack) a young sex worker for hire. Breaking the ice was difficult as Nancy who plans everything gets cold feet. However, things work out and she books a second meeting. Nancy has a list of positions she wants to try. She confesses that she has never had an orgasm and she finds her son boring. Strangers are easier to talk to than friends and family which is the second function of bar tenders and sex workers.

The film was about opening up and getting to know and love oneself. It paints sex workers in a good fashion of being highly educated. This is not Deuce Bigalow or Fred Garvin. Entertaining for a two person story.

Guide: F-word. Sex. Nudity (Daryl McCormack, Emma Thompson)
