anibalsanchez-34223 - 26 June 2024 Almost good The movie's material has the potential to reach the heights of Lovecraft's best stories, brimming with cosmic horror and existential dread. However, it falls short of achieving this lofty ambition. While the plot is straightforward and executed competently, it suffers from a lack of depth and complexity. There are no unexpected twists or turns to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Instead, the narrative unfolds in a predictable manner, never fully exploring the unsettling and mind-bending elements that make Lovecraft's work so compelling. Despite its competent execution, the film fails to evoke the profound sense of unease and mystery that is the hallmark of truly great horror.
sbuyer - 24 May 2024 To be fair As it started i was thrilled to watch this but later as the movie moves at it's climax suddenly it changes into a monstrous movie from horror to thriller. If you know what i mean by "REAL" horror to "ONLY" thriller.
At the end i wasn't even scared anymore. If you watch it from mid portion than you'll think it's something else. Hope this helps as a review.
The jump scares are pretty nice and make-up artist did a pretty good job while making the "MOM" can't say about others.
But specifying the things- that little kid after facing so much traumatic event. She and other two kids didn't even had any mental breakdown of loosing their family. Like literally feel something atleast she was their mom dude.
sherwoodbandit-1977 - 27 March 2024 Dead by Dawn... I found the trailer for the film scarier than the actual film. It's a typical example of a modern day horror. A few jump scares and a whole lot of gore. I would have preferred that they embraced the camp of the original but they did a fine enough job of making it "scary." I love the horror film genre and I find that I do prefer suspenseful horror to over the top blood and guts. I enjoyed the new setting of an apartment in the city as opposed to a cabin in the middle of nowhere. The movie's greatest virtue is the short run time. They don't waste any time getting right to the action and do a great job of keeping it going right up until the end. Not a bad way to spend a few hours but I do wish it had been scarier.
