sofiabarlow - 21 April 2024 has any director ever seen a school uniform in real life My one gripe is that no way in hell would a school uniform ever look that aesthetic. I know the director probably wanted to highlight how beautiful and high society or whatever the school was but for once can maybe it be realised that school uniforms are not 'pretty' or 'aesthetic' as directors want them to be. Nor would students have that much variety or choice within their uniforms. Uniforms are supposed to 'represent the school and the students wearing it' and so far all im seeing is that the school is trying to look as isntagrammable as possible.
This movie is also a wannabe mean girls movie. It's not bad but it plays into tropes and generally is nothing special. A lot of the characters are also loose interpretations of bad stereotypes, and characters are not well fleshed out and their motives are not clear, nor do a lot of their actions have much discernible reasons behind them.
abismell - 21 July 2023 Mean Girls for the 2020's I felt like this was just a remake of Mean Girls but with actual lesbian characters. It was ok but it just felt like there was so many similarities to other films, it even had the inner monologue from Mean Girls, the paint scene felt like it was from 10 Things I Hate About You.
I will say for the film that the twist at the end improved the story for me. However, I don't think it's a film I will be rewatching as much as I have rewatched Mean Girls and 10 Things I Hate About You.
All in all not a terrible movie but I don't feel like it really added anything new to the thousands of teen moves already out there.
vzivchkw - 31 January 2023 Love letter to 90's/00's As a 30 year old gay man, this movie sunk its teeth into me and did not let go, nor did I want it to.
Sooo many homages to the greats of my youth. It's like Clueless, Heathers, 10 Things I Hate About You, She's All That, Mean Girls all got thrown in a blender and made into a fabulous cocktail of comedy & drama that playfully keeps you on your toes with excitement. The soundtrack itself is enough to watch this modernised mixed bag of classic goodies!
10/10 would recommend if you're a fan of the bitchy, campy & comedic backstabbing drama's from the 90's/00's.
Put on a face mask, grab a soda-pop and get some popcorn for this fun ride!
areies - 22 December 2022 Absolute trash, NOT for teenagers Wanted to watch a fun movie with my 15 year old daugther. Looked boos enough from a description. And my daughter said she already watched it before with her friend and really liked it. Well, it turned out to be quite a surprise, and not a good one. This movie pictures high school kids like some wall street nouveau riche, having expensive parties at manors by the beach, drinking, smoking, doing drugs and having sex to the left and to the right as if it's the most natural thing to do in high school. Nothing about this movie is "teenage", don't get confused. Not even worth to talk about bad acting, absolutely flat characters and ridiculous plot. WTF??
chloecameron-57622 - 9 November 2022 Mean Girls X Clueless X 10 Things I Hate About You. I went into this film blind and Ive got to say it's so clearly inspired by Clueless, Mean Girls, 10 Things I Hate About You, and more teen comedies.
It's incredible. As a kid born in '96 the vibe of this film was SO cozy and familiar. It was like rewatching all my favourite teen comedies with the added bonus of hightened and modern aesthetics
I'm also so down for the queer rep and commentary on toxic masculinity and fake feminism. C'mon the 'cis hetero men championing female identifying students' committee. Hysterical.
As someone who loves to illustrate pop culture moments and movie scenes I am dyinnnng to take some from this film. The pastels ugh.
Also - what a plot twist.
brownskinpower - 24 October 2022 Okay😊 "Do Revenge" is a Do Watch. (SPOILER) amazing plot twist. I would say it definitely gives you that who is the real "bad guy" vibe to it. BUT it had me believeing that neither of the main characters were a bad guy.
Absolutely enjoyed watching. It was good exactly how it was made. This is the definition of perfect. A little bit of this. A little bit of that. Nothing more nothing less. Well done.
Casting was okay not my cup of tea. But the actors and actresses did an okay job keep up the work.
Okayyy.
P.s The bad guy is in all of us was a good touch. O especially agree with no one being too good and no one being too bad. We're all made from the same cloth.
