    Better Than You May Expect
Who can steal a movie from underneath the noses of the three stars with ten minutes of screen time?

    Brad Pitt apparently.

He has all the best bits in the movie!

The movie is pretty fun and looking past Brad Pitt the stars deliver entertaining performances.

Lots of colour explodes from the film making the film jump out of the screen at you, its very flamboyant.

Treads very carefully around trying not to be Romancing the Stone but it comes across, I suppose, as a bit of an homage to the 80's classic.

Its a nice adventure, romance, comedy that is probably perfect for a date night with a little bit for everyone :)

Awesome movie. I enjoyed watching it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure aspect of the movie, which kept me engaged from start to finish. Sandra Bullock delivers a stunning performance throughout, and Channing Tatum adds a hilarious touch to the film. The overall tone is exciting, funny, and enjoyable. One standout moment for me was when Channing came up with a clever plan that involved Sandra partially ripping off her dress, adding both humor and excitement to the scene. While I found the movie to be entertaining, there were some scenes that didn't quite make sense to me, leading me to rate it a solid 7 instead of a perfect 10. Specifically, I felt that the scene where the villain revealed his plane and everything in the room started flying away, was a bit over-the-top. However, despite these minor flaws, I would still recommend the movie to others, especially for its adventurous and comedic elements. The satisfying ending left me wanting more, and I would love to see similar movies in the future.

    Really bad
1.) Very poor adventure - it can hardly be called an adventure film. Theres no treasure and no mystery whatsoever !!

2.) Not remotely funny - pls don't believe any of the reviews here that say it's funny - it's terribly written - looks very forced - like plucking leaches from someone's bare buttocks (yuck) or after Bradd Pitts brains are literally blown off, we see the lead pair mouthing some witty lines that's supposed to funny. It just doesn't work, sorry 3.) Why cast a 60 year Sandra Bullock in the lead role? She looks old, can early see her age despite the cosmetics done to her face. Sorry, it's just so painful to watch her play this damsel in distress.

4.) Danielle Radcliffe, Channing Tatum are bad and Sandra Bullock is just unwatchable. Only Brad Pitt's cameo was somewhat tolerable.

    Well...
Being a fan of "no need to think too much" comedy and adventure movies I was somewhat looking forward to this.

But really no. Childish comedy with zero new thinking, reverse stereotyping galore and more than anything - damn Daniel Radcliffe is annoying. Sorry but he is. Bad acting and worse dialogue...

I believe the ones who had the most outta this are the actors themselves- you can tell they were having fun making it- but in such an obvious manner that I couldn't even take them not being serious seriously..

A couple of fun scenes does not a movie make - especially if you try to copy Romancing the Stone as blatantly as here.

    No. Nope.

    Absolutely Dreadful
If I could select minus stars I would but this Romancing the stone remake but terrible. Did Sandra bullock & channing tatum read the script or did they just do it for the money. A b rate movie at best which both leading stars wish they'd never said yes to starring in. Almost 2hrs of my life lost & the price of the dvd. The script didn't work with the cast & all I can say that it was catastrophic at best, whatever they spent on this movie it was too much & shouldn't have even left editing. I want my 2hrs back and my money, save yourself from the time wasted & watch something else. I would say it couldn't be any worse but I would be lying.

Better chemistry and a better villain would have done wonders for this film
Whilst on a book tour, author Loretta Sage is kidnapped by mysterious billionaire Abigail Fairfax whom wants Loretta to help him find some lost treasure. Determined to rescue Loretta is Alan whom is the cover model for her story; whilst Alan is a hero in Loretta's novels, can he be the real-life hero to Loretta?

I've generally found Sandra Bullock to be an appealing actress; when the script is right she can sometimes have a quirky ability of making her characters likeable and turning trite material into something watchable (like Miss Congeniality 1 and 2 for example). However, The Lost City seems beyond her talents...

    I get that The Lost City is not meant to be taken seriously (or at least I presume that is the intention), but even so in order for a film such as The Lost City to work it needs to have certain key ingredients;

CHARACTER CHEMISTRY; I've said this time and time again in my reviews and I will keep saying it when writers get this aspect wrong. I didn't think Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum worked very well as a double act. It says something that Brad Pitt managed to work up better chemistry with Sandra even though he shared much less screen time with her than Channing did; truth be told I'd have preferred it if they kept Brad and ditched Channing, but hey that's just me....

THE VILLAIN; films of this nature need to have one and sadly this film was saddled with Daniel Radcliffe in this respective role. I have nothing against Daniel and have found him to be good elsewhere, but as the villain here he played sucked. His spoilt man-child act was not funny and he was about as intimidating as Mr Bean. In fact the few laughs I got from the film were from him actually trying to be tough (though I'm unsure whether this was meant to be funny or not).

TENSION; well there just wasn't any and as usual Fairfax's goons were so inept that you never were in any doubt how the film would end or whether or not Alan and Loretta would get the better of them.

I think what's worse is that I sensed that this was supposed to be an adventure film, but where's the mystery, the suspense, the intrigue etc and don't even get me started on the nauseating and frankly ridiculous and unbelievable romance.

I found it boring and to be honest the only person I liked in this film was Brad Pitt, but he wasn't in the film enough for me to be able to truly like it.

    The lost talent
This is absolutely dire! I expected to look on this page and see people panning it. Where is the comedy? What action? I thought that Sandra Bullock could act but that proved to be untrue. Not high expectations for Channing Tatum but actually he has comic timing, he just had a God awful lame script. Seriously I can't believe that there are people on here giving this a score of 10 who thought it was hysterical and that there was chemistry between the leads. I found myself double checking that I had the right movie! I resented giving this pile even one star but perhaps it was worth that for casting Harry Potter as a bad guy.
