guy-summerton - 29 June 2024 It's a no from me Idris Fortunately we are all different. What one person likes or dislikes is not going to affect my opinion. Like any other film you should make your own mind up. Having said all that, here is my view on this film. I have always been a big fan of Idris Elba. Like most actors he will make films that won't suit everyone. After watching this I was left feeling like he was going down the path many have trodden before where a big name stars to draw people to see it, like Bruce Willis has done for example. For me this is the worst film I have ever seen him in. The story is so contrived. The decisions the characters make in the film are predictable and laughable. So sorry it's a no from me Idris you can do better and indeed have since this was filmed. A little discernment required I think.
cybainfo - 25 April 2024 The fast and the ferocious This film deserves a 7.2, at least a 6.9. Its current 5.4 is way too low imho.
Yes, the kids verge on being annoying, almost certainly not as annoying as two American teenage girls would be IRL, but annoying nonetheless and say some silly things at points which do break the suspense, and not in a good way. It's obvious that the writers/director were trying to keep their childlike annoyingness to a minimum and, to be fair, there have been much much worse cases.
Apart from that this is a solid Sunday night popcorn flick. Great cinematography, nice soundtrack (and sound effects), good action, good frights, simple but good storyline and dialogue and the ever charismatic Idris Elba.
Because the current score is so undeservedly low I've given it a 10 but as I said it really deserves at least a 6.9.
JoseEmanon - 10 February 2024 CUJO IN AFRICA An intense, terrifying, suspenseful movie about nature fighting back, and I admit I'm only about 3/4 thru it as I'm writing this, but I gotta say, and no offense to the actresses, but this movie has 2 of the most annoying, entitled whiney teen characters ever to appear on screen. There's a vicious killer lion attacking the truck and killing Uncle, one of them decides this is the perfect time to remind Dad that he wasn't exactly attentive while Mom was sick and dying. OK... Dad says 'stay in the truck'. Daughter decides she knows better, gonna rescue Uncle from the killer lion. Dad is up a tree, hiding from said lion, daughter is yelling in the walkie 'can you hear me now?' Many inane teenage questions and comments thruout, as Dad is doing his best to fight off lions AND poachers. C'mon. I would have fed at least one of them to the lion. Not the actresses fault. Elba and they are doing their best with the material. I blame the writers and director. A good effort, glad I watched it, but really, don't we have enough sullen teens already? Right here in this room?🤔🤣
bari_yusi - 27 November 2023 Really?? Really Hollywood? After all these years Hollywood tried to make a good animal predator movie (last and maybe the only decent one with big budget was The Ghost and the Darkness from 1990's). The CGI lions was good in the movie, the Safari setting also. Besides that they put two annoying and boring side characters (Idris Elba's two daughters in the movie) who made every possible stupid decision ever exist, i mean when they don't supposed to talk... they do, when they don't supposed to go out, they do, etc. It's a weak 85 - 90 minutes movie with good CGI lions and that's it.
My rating is somewhere between 3.5-4.0/10.
cromaine-11970 - 31 December 2022 A thrilling experience of the night of the jungle Do we remember the Michael Douglas and Van Kilmer starter "The Ghost and the Darkness".
That movie sent chills down my spine.
Well "Beast" does exactly the same.
A simple story about a Dad and his 2 daughters, return back to the village of their mom.
The story is well written and is portrayed well to touch upon the topics of how indeed animals can foster a relationship with humans who have been kind to them and how also due to greed and lack of governance the evil of poaching is breaking this beautiful bond between nature and humans.
The movie captures every intricate detail of what it intends to portray. The story is quite simple. Lion goes rogue and humans are at the wrong place at the
wrong time.
Resilience needs to prevail. For this simple nature I say watch it. The lions sudden attacks and the beast itself sends shivers through one and it's a story that can be watched over a beautiful evening of wine and dine.
Vanessydelg - 13 December 2022 The lion Chihuahua This movie is irritating to say the least. If you are going to watch it despite the bad reviews, make sure you are not around someone you want to impress with your manners, because you are certainly going to curse and scream in anger.
SPOILERS AHEAD!
1) If you are the father of two irritating and dramatic good-for-nothing girls, and you are being chased by an alpha male lion that's gone bonkers, just act as if you were at the library, never losing your calm, with the patience of a saint, saying ok to anything the stupid girls tell you.
2) If your father tells you to stay inside the freaking car because the lion is haunting you, you just do the opposite because it's ok, chances are your major desobedience won't amount to much trouble.
3) If your father goes unarmed and on foot near the corpses to get the truck keys, and you know the lion might be roaming nearby, what better idea could there be but to call him on the radio, because waiting for more than five minutes makes you anxious apparently and you want things done now and right away, regardless of the lion hearing the radio and you literally putting your father's life at risk because you are an insolent impatient brat?
4) If a giant lion manages to get it's head inside the car, kick it on the jaw. That will protect you. Teenage girls' kicks on lions heads and jaws are very useful and will eventually scare the lion away because they will hurt it enough as to leave you alone for some time. You might end up with a superficial wound in your ribs (?) but your legs will be intact.
5) If a lion is chasing you, and you find an old empty school in the middle of nowhere, with another pride of lions nearby, you might get in but don't bother closing the door. Lions tend to be very well-mannered and knock before getting inside. Some even give you a welcoming basket.
6) But when the rude lion that's is still alive after an explosion that blew up on its face on another location manages to find you in seconds after you drove miles to get elsewhere (super speed powers, maybe) and insists on killing you, the best solution is not to take advantage of the narrow corridors of the house, but rather jog to the open sabana, and let it attack you. Why would you do this? Because you have a fairy-tale agenda that requires explaining at the end of the movie and the odds of it taking place are, in your doubtless mind, of a one hundred percent. Also, help is only a second away, all of a sudden.
7) And, when the giant alpha male lion who is now really pissed off, burnt and bloodthirsty attacks you, it will bite your back, chew your arms and legs, but be still your heart, the wounds will equal those of a Chihuahua's. All limbs will remain there, just a few superficial scratches, nothing to worry about. Pitbulls can chew a man's arm off with a single bite, but lions cannot. Too bad the characters didn't know this from the beginning to feel some reassurance.
All in all, I'm packing to go to wherever the movie is set to find me a lion and have some daredevil adventure, because I'm sure things will be as easy and safe as in this movie. 🙄
tearitdownner - 28 November 2022 Both daughters ruined the movie and never have a knife fight with a lion .. lol I can't believe the daughters are so stupid and the one that supposed to be a teenager is 29 years old in real life can't pass as a teenager. This is ridiculous. Everything about this movie is foolish silly and ridiculous. The white friend that he visit in Africa is decent actor and is the only guy I liked in the show but with the daughters totally ruined it. I was rooting for the lion during the whole movie which I don't wanna admit but it's true the daughters ruined it why oh why do they make the main actor like Poor man's Will Smith and why do they have to put daughters in there that are so stupid. And I can't stop the door. Such is the worst part of the movie. It's just unbelievable how stupid they are and why the script made them so stupid I think they should've use the Trank darts on the daughters. In the end, the CGI line was no bigger than the other one so I thought it was a ridiculous concept to begin with.
jfen-22465 - 13 November 2022 Excellent camera movement. I bumped this to 6 stars for the awesome camera movement used all throughout the movie. It's an okay movie in other aspects. They held so many long tracking shots into trucking using random movement that really helped us be there with them. Even involved semi arc shots to wrap around a character to stay with them. A couple of nice boom shots too. The camera movement all together was used so well.
Dumb choices were involved.
Suspension of some reality but it was done well enough that I sat through it pretty easy. Again the camera movement for me was most interesting.
