padawanmovies - 25 March 2023 Watched during a long plane ride I've known of Koy for about a decade, so when I saw him starring in a film loosely based on his life, I knew I had to check it out. Boy, this was just flat for me because it didn't make me laugh much at all. I love Eugene from Tacoma FD and Yang from Silicon Valley. I thought there'd be jokes a minute but no the exact opposite. I also didn't care for the fact they made Eugene's character so foolish. No one in real life would ever give that man a large sum of money. I thought the bad guys weren't that threatening excluding the firearms they possessed and seemed out of place in this movie. I guess I just expected a different film from the one we were given. Everyone was enjoyable hopefully any future projects will be better.
Mykle_Ykle - 22 September 2022 Not a great family comedy. It was like a silly sitcom made into a movie The jokes and gags are too repetitive. It lets you know the writing was a bit lazy. I was expecting more family comedy, like My Big Fat Greek Wedding or the Father of the Bride remake, but this is more like family holiday gone wrong with a side business. Yes, it has family moments, but I feel they get overshadowed with lazy writing and repetitive situations. The side story is also not that funny. The characters were caricatures. The movie is with the watch, but definitely not great. Just what for it to hit the streaming apps and could definitely be watched with the entire family. I was just expecting a lot more.
legobuilderpro - 27 August 2022 A crazy family This movie felt like a standard comedy movie that was just ok. Easter Sunday (2022) has a simple premise and interesting characters, but it does not feel well put together.
Jo Koy as Joe Valencia was fine his acting was not awful, but it was not fantastic. The characters are made weird to fit the plot but some of the characters are only in small scenes to bring a joke that is not that funny.
There are scenes that last a couple of seconds that I lightly laughed at and only because it was something random and out of nowhere. There are also unexpected scenes that caught me off guard because I did not know they were in the movie.
There is an unnecessary side plot that makes its way into the plot about Joe Valencia seeing his family for Easter Sunday, and some of the scenes are weirdly cut together.
Easter Sunday (2022) was fine. It does not stay with you, and you could find a better comedy movie to watch and spend 1 hour 36 minutes of your time.
