The quality is getting worse and worse.
Home Sweet Home Alone. The quality is getting worse and worse. Home Sweet Home Alone is a funny and touching story that puts a new spin on the classic Home Alone storyline. The film is about a boy accidentally left behind during a family vacation and his confrontation with two wily thieves. The unique atmosphere and humor remain the focus, but there is a new meaning and a modern update to the familiar plot. "Home Sweet Home Alone" not only brings a new take on a classic, but also fills the viewer with the warm feelings associated with the best family comedies. Funny and touching moments balance each other out.

Better than others will have you believe
Here we go again. Grown adults complaining about a kids film. Honestly some people need to get a life. I'm a huge fan of the original movies and this one is a great addition to the franchise. Way better than 3 and 4 and It's actually very funny which I wasn't expecting and has loads of nods to the original movie and most importantly the kids loved it. My only criticism from an adult perspective is that the threat Max faces is from a married couple trying to retrieve something he stole so doesn't have the joepardy of the original criminals but perhaps this is a sign of the times and was deliberate given the target audience. Maybe for a sequel (optimistic I know) they should set the movie in the U. K and have a couple of seasoned British actors play the criminals. That said Kemper and Delaney are great and get put through their paces in the same way Pesci and Stern did. Slapstick to be proud of. Archie Yates who was introduced to the world in Jo Jo Rabbit is also excellent in this and has the charm Culkin did back in the 90s. One thing that is completely lost however and I will accept isn't as good is the journey of the mother travelling to get back to her son. They really lost the emotional journey element of the first movie and her arrival back to Max is glossed over. This is one part that made the original so good so it loses some stars because of this. It's not brilliant but it's a very entertaining Xmas romp and one this generation will grow to love. A solid 6.5 out of 10.

A Mixed Bag of Humor and Cringe
"Home Sweet Home Alone" presents a mixed viewing experience, surpassing the disappointments of the fourth and fifth films, but still falling short of the brilliance of the original trilogy. The plot revolves around young Max Mercer, portrayed by a talented actor, who is mistakenly left behind by his family during the holidays. As Max tries to defend his home from a couple of relentless burglars, the movie offers a blend of funny and cringeworthy moments.

Compared to "Home Alone 4" and "Home Alone 5," this latest installment exhibits a noticeable improvement. The young actor in the lead role brings charisma and likability to Max, making him a relatable and sympathetic character. However, the supporting cast fails to deliver the same level of chemistry and memorable performances seen in the original films.

The humor in "Home Sweet Home Alone" is a mix of genuinely funny moments and cringeworthy sequences. While some scenes manage to elicit laughter, there are instances where the humor feels forced or falls flat. The attempt to recreate the iconic traps of the earlier films sometimes veers into cringe territory, lacking the cleverness and inventiveness that made the original traps so iconic.

Visually, the film is competent, with decent cinematography and set designs that capture the holiday atmosphere. However, it lacks the distinctive visual flair and creativity that set the original films apart. The soundtrack is forgettable, neither enhancing nor detracting significantly from the overall experience.

Overall, "Home Sweet Home Alone" is a mixed bag of humor and cringe. While it surpasses its immediate predecessors, it still fails to recapture the brilliance of the first three movies. The funny parts offer some amusement, but the cringeworthy moments may leave audiences feeling uncomfortable. It serves as an average option for younger viewers, but fans of the franchise will likely long for the magic and ingenuity that made the original films timeless classics.

    A Home Alone parody
As a huge fan of the originals and since it's a staple of my childhood, I've watched all the other bad versions that came after - so I didn't expect much from this one to start with. The poor reviews are all accurate but I'll give this one an extra star because it truly just felt like a parody. It had some funny moments and honestly the movie wasn't so bad up until the booby traps. That whole part with the traps was unnecessary & like the other reviews said, it literally made you feel sorry for the "bandits".

The cast all did a good job, Ellie Kemper kept the movie alive though & the special guest appearance was probably my favorite part of the whole movie. Watch this with very low expectations and you might actually be pleasantly surprised instead of severely disappointed.

The worst Home Alone movie ever from Disney+
The idea of Home Alone getting a reboot is pretty unnecesary just like Ice Age The Adventures Of Buck Wild just to get the elephant out of the room, Max Mercer which is the main character is such an unlikable brat who whines about soda he is also a rip-off of Kevin Mcallister from the first movie which was way better. I also find him to be a stereotype of Milo (Mars Needs Moms) why because they both disrespect their parents 24/7, i also find Max to be a complete Gary Stu who never gets comeuppance for his actions and tje voice acting is just bland and forgettable, most of the characters are just one-dimensional jerks. Thank god i never watched it or i'll never will or else it would have killed me to death.

Goes for nostalgia and can't even nail that
Home alone is understandably a classic film. Who doesn't love the tail of the plucky Kevin McAllister who saves his home from burglars. The director of this film, obviously thought that and made this as nothing but a money making machine that uses the whole premise from the original but uses 'Nostalgia' as an excuse. There's taking elements from the original (like the force awakens and the last Jedi take from empire strikes back) and then there is just blatant copying. I wouldn't have a major problem with that however if they had actually got it right. This film is butchered from the beginning by changing the concept to make it so that the villains have a moral compass and have the right intentions. This in theory sounds good, but what it actually does is make us like the villains. Moreover, we want them to actually succeed. This therefore ruins the central aspect of the film as in the third act where we traditionally see the burglars get badly injured by the booby traps set by the hero we can't enjoy it or laugh, we know these people don't deserve it and that they are only trying to help their family. Even during the sequence multiple times they ask the kid to stop and say they just want to talk. The boy ignores them and keeps shooting pool balls at them. This also further reinforces to us that the so called hero is really rude and takes happiness from others misfortune (Unintentionally he was characterised this way). All in all, a misguided and immoral attempt to remake home alone.

Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney were hysterical
The movie was funny. It would have been better not as a Home Alone movie though. The kid was the true villain in this one. The movie would have worked better if it just focused on Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney. Worth a watch.
