If you didn't like this movie... Good afternoon!
Do not be discouraged by the average rating. I watched it thinking it would be average at best, and was delightfully surprised to find the opposite.

As an avid hater of Apple TV, I can confirm that this movie exceeded all of my expectations. The songs are spectacular, the script is funny, and Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, and Octavia Spencer, brilliant as always. The cinematography and scening is also stellar (and if you're attentive enough, you'll find a lot of cameos that will make you chuckle, such as in the statues at the end of the first song).

I watched it with my girlfriend, who despises musicals, and we were both -extremely- pleasantly surprised. While it follows the same trope as every other christmas movie, it does so with great charm.

The plot -a spin of A Christmas Carol- is as original as it is endearing. There's some (sort of expected) twists throughout, not that it makes the movie any less good: the fact that you kind of expect them actually adds to its charm, if that makes sense.

I'd give it more than 10 stars if I could, because 10 stars is what the music alone deserves.

    Definitely a must watch.

    Our new holiday tradition
What's not to love? Will Ferrell is in his charming mode, funny, but tender and restrained. I knew Octavia Spencer could act, but who knew she could sing?! And I love Ryan Reynolds anyway, with his lovable smarminess that only he can pull off without the cringe, but here he is doing that while tap dancing!!! Heartstrings are tugged just enough to give you all the feels, but not so much that they gag you. They knew how to take sentimentality right to the line without crossing it - Reynolds has a lot to do with that. And the songs are REALLY GOOD - take that from a musical perfectionist! This is more than just a rehash of a Christmas Carol, it's tears and laughter, excellent dancing, and a good story, all wrapped in a beautiful package. And did I mention how good the songs are?! Watching this will be our new holiday tradition.

    Perfect!
No matter what any bahumbug comment or review says... this movie was perfect! Just the right amount to get into the holiday spirit! Funny and awesome for the whole family! Kind hearted and funny! There is a sing-a-long as well so there is plenty to watch over and over! All parts are play and performed stupendously! Working during the holidays season is hard and this movie hits you! It's definitely one you can't miss! Make sure to be ready for laughs and corny jokes along with wholesomeness and care. Full circle with the story but a perfect updated version with a twist!

P.s. Don't listen to the haters! They are all humbugs!

This movie proves you can redeem yourself
Okay, so when I first started watching this I was unsure, it just didn't seem that good, but when they started singing good afternoon, wow! I fell in love with this movie and I am literally obsessed with it, Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell are literally hilarious together, and this movie is an instant classic. The song Unredeemable actually brought tears to my eyes, it's one of those songs where you don't just hear the lyrics, you understand them at a deeper level. And then of course my other favorite song Good Afternoon had me crying laughing the whole way through, it's hilarious and catchy! This movie is a masterpiece and a must watch!

"We Have to Kill Her Now Right?"
    Good afternoon movie watchers!

I obviously missed the memo that this was a musical. But that's alright, I don't hate musicals, but definitely do not seek them out, but I can't say no to a Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell team up.

A legit funny and good feeling Christmas movie. The mere fact that they named the "Karen" Karen at the beginning was hilarious. Did Reynolds just take his red jacket from his Wade Wilson character and make a couple adjustments? Ferrell almost went full 'Elf' near the end, which may have been purposeful because they put the Easter egg in there right after.

Ryan Reynolds is a Vancouverite, as am I, and I was happy to see Vancouver get some screen time on a feature film, even if it was brief.

A predictable ending along with a possible plan for a sequel, but that didn't necessarily take away from anything. You could just see that's the direction it was heading halfway through, if not earlier.

One thing I realized while watching and took away, was a comment from Clint Briggs when he says to read the comments below to discover mankind's true nature. I read the comments below way too often and need to stop. Because as we all know, it's often just negative energy and can be full of hate. Rarely anything good comes from the comment sections on the Internet unfortunately. It's a good thing there are none for IMDb reviews.

    Instant Christmas classic!
This was an incredible movie music, dancing, heart! A clever retelling of the classic Christmas carol. This reminded me of the old classic musicals: the sets, big dance numbers, costumes.

I can't give it 10 stars because it's not family friendly. You can't watch it with the whole family. We couldn't watch it with our youngest because of language, sexual references and adult themes. I wish they had made this PG and done without the language.

They could have also done without the sexual relationship. It wasn't necessary to move the story along. Otherwise, a really fun watch and one for the Christmas movie rotation.

Amazing movie! Really outdid my expectations! Brilliant music!
Best Christmas comedy movie in years! Really good!

People criticize the music but do you ever remember a songs from a musical? The songs are made to bring the story forward. And the music in this movie does it really good!

Will Ferrell makes the movie really fun without his usual illogical humor (which I love though). Ryan is his usual sarcastic character.

What caught me is how they bring forth the story in which the plot twists gradually. It's a brilliant "sequel" to the Scrooge story and the quote I will bring with me for 2023 is: "your sacrifice would have no meaning if it had no consequence"

Another thing to mention is the way this movie is inclusive without trying to shove an agenda down my throat! Really thought that was fresh and I didn't leave with a feeling of being manipulated. Well done! Other movies who tries to be inclusive could learn a lot!

I wanted to like it. Really.
It tries way too hard. First, the musical numbers. The film makes fun of its musical numbers but the problem is they continue to do the ridiculous musical numbers, continue to poke fun at themselves, etc. If you're going to do musical numbers at least write some good memorable music. I cannot recall a single song (sign of a bad musical). The comedy is terrible and the script just screams "workshopped." The actors should be embarrassed. I think what we have here is Apple having a ton of money to throw at something and thinking more is better. Bigger choreographed dance numbers, bigger names, elaborate sets, etc. The result is a movie that is too busy, and thinks too highly of itself. Skip this one and see a great version of "A Christmas Carol" (there are a couple). You'll get the same message.

    What's not to like?
Firstly when was the last time a good Christmas film, with good actors and a good budget was brought out?

What do you get with Spitited? My concern was it was a musician film with two people who ... well aren't singers. You need not worry. The comedy of Will Farrell and Ryan Reynolds shines through and the musical aspect isn't consistent. It's more of a "let's burst into song" which adds to the comedy.

It has everything, comedy, good actors, a classic story with a twist, singers, dancers.

It is what it is, it's a Christmas film and a brilliant one at that, it's certainly made the yearly viewing.

The sequel will have Schwarzenegger and Stallone do Mary's Boy Child
OK. Full disclosure. I hate musicals. I love music. I love drama. Putting the 2 together is like putting fish on bicycles or about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Why take two of the best comedic talents In the world and get them to sing and dance? No really, why?

Also I can live without another retelling of Christmas Carol. Honestly, the royalties that that this Chuck Dickens must be getting over writing this one book must keeping him in quills and parchment for life!!

I am writing this while watching it. I am missing absolutely nothing. I guess Apple must have cut some huge cheques for Reynolds and Ferrell. You have been warned.
