    Incoherent Snoozefest
This is what happens when a writer/director thinks he's a lot smarter and deeper than he actually is. His symbolism, his themes, his foreshadowing are incoherent and shallow, the plot dull and meandering, the characters flat and one dimensional.

I certainly didn't think that Get Out was some masterpiece. It was a 6-7/10 decent and entertaining horror film. This is a 3/10 complete miss. If a film is dull, it should be meaningful, if a film isn't meaningful, it should be entertaining. This film fails on both counts.

Some postmodern midwit will no doubt try to project some deeper meaning completely obscure to us mere mortals on to this snoozefest, but rest assured this isn't Tarantino or Scorsese, this is a long and dull film made by a writer that can't really write that well but has been encouraged be well-meaning people.

My personal highlight was when the wooden acting became insanely transparent. Main character sees little sister in massive trouble, and main character's face literally doesn't move and looks utterly bored just like he does in every scene in the film.

What is up with this movie?!?
I thought the concept was decent and had potential but my God was the execution awful. Particularly the acting was so sub-standard that it was hard for me believe that these were professional actors. The actor playing the sister character was downright obnoxious in her portrayal. I get that the character was designed to be super bubbly and extroverted, but this was definitely over-the-top and terribly done. On the flip-side, Daniel Kaluya who I usually like was SO flat. Again I get that he was supposed to be the downbeat, low-key guy who doesn't show much emotion, but that doesn't mean you put in no energy at all lol. The side characters including the IT guy were all forgettable. The only one that did a decent job was Steven Yeun 👍Now coming to the direction and screenplay. Jordon Peele definitely hit the ball out of the park with his first movie, but it seems like he got rather lucky with everything working for him in that movie. Because from what he's been putting out since then, he seems actually to not be such a great director as people first thought. The extended shots in this movie were almost soul-draining. Yea he's trying to build tension or whatever but there is a point where you lose any interest and attention because it lingers on way too long. Finally, I'd like to say that while I thought the concept was somewhat decent, the twist of the "spacecraft" actually being a living creature totally lost me. Like that was so unncessary. Granted I didn't get to the end of the movie, because it was unbearable, (although i TRIED, I really really did ), so I don't really know how the story ends and what the secret of the "creature" is or whether it's one after all. Also I don't care.

    Dumb
Just straight up dumb. A bunch of people saying "you just don't get the inner, hidden meaning of this movie", I think it has none.

Emerald is just annoying, other characters are "simple" without other appropriate word.

I don't get it, why the main character has insecurity about talking and speaking up? What was the point of the whole "we will be really slow and misterious" when in the end if you look at the movie as a big picture, you get: "big saucer creature can't suck up 3 people from the ground".

The screams from the creature? Why? Was it's meaning cut from the movie or was it just a qualifier to say this movie is a "horror".

Dumb, one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

To Nope or not to Nope
Nope earns 6 bags of popcorn. It is a scary thriller set in sunny California.

I did really enjoys the visuals in the movie and the performances of the actors. The movie I thought was pretty well paced and had many tense moments with some humor along the way.

I'm not one to get behind a movie because of the message it sends so I'm not going to comment on the social issues this movie hits on. Some of them are very clear in the film and that's fine but it doesn't excuse some of the major issues it had in the story telling of the movie.

The scariest and and most skin crawling scene of this movie is absolutely the chimpanzee attacking the set and actors. It is difficult to watch and makes you uncomfortable as you anxiously watch to see what happens. My issue with this is that this scene has nothing to do with the main characters. Sure, it's backstory on the man who owns the ranch nearby that has attractions for tourists. And yes, I understand it has to do with the one of the themes of the movie and ties into how the monster or alien behaves as well, but it could be removed completely and wouldn't make the slightest difference in the story.

At the end of the day, it's back story on a side character and does not drive the story forward for the main characters. I'm sure many people would disagree and argue that the scene is relevant to the tone and theme in the story and therefore has its purpose, but it just bothers me that the most tense, on the edge of your seat scene of the movie, in no way involves the main characters or is directly involved in the main story.

That disconnect put me off and contributed to the final act falling a bit flat since it was in no way as tense or memorable as the chimpanzee scene. Again, visuals are great, score and acting are fantastic. My main issue is the unbalanced weight that scene has in comparison to the rest of the film.

Very enjoyable movie...Until i realized how stupid everything is.
I watched the whole movie and enjoyed it without thinking too much into anything. But after the movie was over i was like wtf did i just watch?

What did the very long sequences with the monkey and that failed tv show have to do with this movie? Is there a connection at all? I would guess the connection is wild animals don't like to be watched. But that is a very weak link.

Its a monster movie where the monster is literally a space ship. It has no inhabitants...It itself is the monster. Which is super weird and pretty stupid after i thought about it.

So this space ship's weakness...is stupidity. I mean Balloons. Wow....where do i start. It eats the balloon filled with air...that floats??.., because it had open eyes? Is that what they were saying?

And that well scene at the end..I was wondering why they wer trying to make it so dramatic. Is she shooting it down? Or just trying to take a picture of it? With the ship being destroyed and landing on the ground that picture becomes absolutely pointless as proof because now they have the actual ship.

Nothing makes any sense..but it was a good watch.

    Horrible
Emerald and OJ Haywood both seem to be extremely intellectually challenged. OJ ( yes honor the killer) is barely able to speak and when he does, he mumbles and sounds very ignorant. He seems to have escaped from an assisted care facility for the mentally unfit. His sister , Emerald is the most annoying character I have ever seen onscreen. The actress who plays her, Keke, tries too hard to act ghetto.. she sounds just like an annoying guest star from a 1972 sitcom like Good Times or The Jefferson's. She talks a mile a minute and sounds so uneducated. Loud, and with a bossy ignorant attitude, unable to speak without using the "s" or "f" word to punctuate each sentence. So here we have two siblings, one seemingly mentally retarded and the other hyped up on crack.

On a positive note, the references to a nineties sitcom starring a chimp that went tragically awry was well played.

I am streaming this movie free on tv. It is over 2 hours long, and cannot watch more than 20 minutes per day, due the Emerald character, who tries so hard to be a caricature of a 1970s "jive turkey" type. Her over the top unrestricted over acting can cause people to become bigots.

The only thing they did great is the film name. One word to describe the condition of the whole film.
As many reviewers wrote, I also expected this movie to turn out to be a good movie. Instead, all I got is a bag of disappointment. The movie is so bad. It's too slow, some acting is kind of really bad, the character development is so weak and most important of all, bad direction and editing.

Furthermore, the story is too simple and a bit ridiculous. I get that it's going to be some monster thing. But it's not so clear to see that freaking scene where people went into it's mouth and got digested. It's like stuck into some machine. I think it's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

The thing that made me annoyed most is the dark scenes. The dark scenes are too dark. I mean dark scenes are gotta be dark. I get that. But don't make it too dark. If it's too dark, we can't see what's going on. If we can't see a thing, how the hell are we going to watch? The dark scenes in the film are so dark that I couldn't even see a thing in daytime even when I have put my tablet's brightness up to maximum. I had to watch it at night with maximum brightness. When dark scenes are over, I have to adjust the brightness again. It's so troublesome. Look, I'm not saying that don't make dark scenes. You can have dark scenes in your film, but at least, make it watchable and audiences can see everything in that dark scene.

As for conclusion of this review, "Nope" turned out to be exactly the same as the name.

Someone: Is "Nope" film good to watch?

    Me: Nope.

Skip it if you value your time and money because watching this film is a total waste of time and money.

    The title is a review
This movie feels like a parody of arrival. Whereas Denis Villeneuves movie is made like a documentary and is very realistic and tense, this one is very very strange and weired. I like strange movies but this one is on another level.

So there is a carnivorous alien looking like a jellyfish that hides in a cloud and eats horses at a ranch in the US. The cloud is always there so it just stays at that ranch. Reasona giben tonwhy it doesn't choose a place with more pray -NOPE. Ah and inside it basically looks like a inflatable kids bouncy castle.

At the beginning of the movie, it drops coins and kills the protagonists dad. Answeres to why it droped them - NOPE.

It then doesn't eat for 6 months and the it starts again to hunt... Must be starving by then... Soon in the movie the protagonists realize that there is a UFO and decide they want to be the first to take a video of it. Fair enough.

The storry is engadging at the beginning but falls apart as soon as you see the UFO.

It turns out the Alien just eats you when you look at it. When you look away, it doesn't eat you?! Does that make any sense - NOPE Does Daniel Kaluuya (Oj) do any different facial expressions - NOPE There is a whole side story where a monkey in a sitcom kills some people. Does it ad anything to the story - NOPE The guy who wants to buy the ranch also found the alien and his approach is that he wants to do a show... So he invites lots of people, the alien shows up and kills everyone... He deserves the most stupid award in Hollywoods history! Just NOPE The alien finds them in the house and pours down blood... Explanation - NOPE, they are super frightened, then they decide lets film it again instead of fleeing.

They call a strange camera man and he brings a mechanical camera because electrical stuff turns off near the alien. At the end they have good material... He says "the light is good now"... walks on a hill and gets killed by the Alien... Ok so he deserves the most stupid award.... Just super NOPE In the end OJ faces the alien, looks at it but it doesn't eat him! Explanation - NOOOOOOPE Sometimes the alien is fast like ligtning, sometimes you can take your horse and gallop away easily- NOPE

This movie is strange for the sake of being strange like the titel implys For me this movie was just a NOPE.

Had potential but the characters were so annoying and that ruined for me
Both main leads, the brother sister duo are the most irritating characters. The sister, gosh, what a loud and annoying character and the brother, as dull as a flat soda. The Alien hiding in the cloud was really good concept, but what the heck was the alien doing there? Go to New York to get a feed, why settling in for 3 people at a ranch? And the dude ended up blowing up anyway. Silly movie, and silly plot.

As a sci fi and horror fan, went in with a lot of expectations and was disappointed. They didint cover any back story of the alien, why it was alone there? Which planet did it come from? Oh well!....

Not missing any marks for me
This is genuinely one of the most creative and visually spectacular movies I've ever seen. Each ten minute segment was completely unpredictable to me. I did not expect an alien movie at all. I did not expect the "it's an animal consuming people" twist as opposed to it being a ship. Certain scenes were pure genius like the one with the little boy witnessing the chimpanzee's massacre.

I was struggling with the emphasis on "getting the shot" as it felt extremely selfish but it fit the characters and story.

It did feel a little bit disjointed but after finishing I'm forgiving everything. I get extra excited about happy endings in an age where doom and gloom seems to prevail.
