ipean - 20 January 2024 Relatable As a black man in his mid 20s that lives in nyc, this is one of the most relatable movies I've ever watched. From the contestant pressure to be on dating apps, to partying all night downtown and ending up in bk and even dealing with the problems that arise when trying to be friends with your ex; the themes in this movie are very relevant. By Visually it's stunning, the characters are wearing real pop-culture street wear like off-white and Valentino and also there are trippy visuals that go from riding a Citi bike on 3rd Ave to galavanting in space or action fights with Mr. Rager which is what really just illustrative of his internal conflict about staying true to himself or capitulating to what the company status quo is. Truly another masterpiece from Cudi.
lkp-51721 - 4 July 2023 Worth The Watch! 🖤💜 I loved the movie and surprisingly loved the soundtrack. The storyline was beautifully written and the graphics were extraordinary. I'm 50 years old and would not normally go for this type of anime/cartoon/movie, but it works. I like the romantic interest in the movie and I like how he was trying to figure out life and love. The conflicts throughout the movie really kept my attention and I thought it would lose me but it never did. I have adhd, but found myself waiting for everyone to speak and for the characters to stand up and introduce themselves to me. Pleasant surprise with this movie. I feel like it was very underrated and some of the reviews, because they didn't see the bigger picture of Black love and some of the struggles that we have when it comes to relationships, money, associations.
jaymill-00640 - 23 January 2023 Not feeling the modernism It's a bit clique. It portray black guys as wanting to smash everything and just smoke all day. Then they turned both women into overly sexual. First date with ex girlfriend after him getting money she throw herself at him. Second date with neighbor, her friend tells her to throw it at him and don't worry about dating him just smash him.
I first intended to watch this with my 12 year old son, started it today by myself first and seen very quickly that he won't be watching this one. It honestly just send a bad message to the upcoming generation and dating is already messed up. The dating app saying forget the first date clearly explains that.
yonas73 - 26 October 2022 A creative blast I was completely impressed at how fresh & relatable and very well portrayed happy animated movie. I've watched it three times already and I think I'll always go back to watch this heart warming gem of a picture whenever I feel down. Kudos to Kid Kudi & all the fantastic collaboration of creative artist.
It's recent that I've started exploring the whole animated world and it just keeps getting better and better. This movie would have to be one of the top most beloved ones for me.
I loved the soundtrack and the storyline very much. It was rather refreshing to come across such a beautiful work of art that will inspire all the African American that are ambitious to tell their story.
darksun-945-813498 - 13 October 2022 Listen... I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The whole vibe of it. The music set right with it, too, although I can't say I'm a fan. It was somewhat predictable, but I still enjoyed the trip, and the art style is similar to Into The Spider-Verse...beautifully drawn, and the resemblance to the actual actors is appreciated. I believe that's what allowed the actors to really be able to bring their emotions through the animation. It's surprising how you can just bond to the characters so quickly, I doubt this would have the same effect in live action. Ii read in one of the other reviews that someone was told you need to be buzzed or high. Yeah, nah, just watch it. It's one of those late night just chill and vibe type of movies. Get a date, some snacks, grab a blanket, dim the lights, cuddle up on the couch and just enjoy.
