    Decent crime drama
The contractor was a decent enough movie. I wouldn't call it great as i dont think whats on offer is anything too spectacular. Chris pine plays james. A good actor and in this he gives off the jack ryan vibe and does well at carrying the film as the main character. Now james gets discharged for something minor and has his benefits taken from him. So he accepts to be a contractor from a mate and has to work for a disheveled keifer sutherland. While on the subject both he and gillian jacobs acting i feel is let down. Not by them but by not giving them enough room to show what they can do. Plot is decent even if predictablr as a whole. The contractor becomes just a decent but not overally great crime drama.

    Dull
4 of 10 is generous. Started slow, finished fast and the ending sucked. Keifer did a fine job for the 3 minutes he was in the movie, Chris Pine and the rest not so much.

It was a dull movie that started dull and finished dull. The middle was bettter but just as dull. I'm not even sure I understood the ending, friend was dying apparentlyburn him and the vechicle. Watched his family with a smile and calling Jack at the end..

The story appaaren't a good man, discharged from his post gets in with the wrong people and kills an innocent, kills a bunch of police yet at the end of the movie he's got a big dumb arrse smile.

    Definately do not recommend.

    Superbly acted by Chris Pine
This is a great movie made so by the acting of Chris Pine. He is just so entertaining. A bit of a James Dean at times. The other actors were all good but without Pine it would have been a total flop. The casting director did a great job. You had to have someone who could captivate the audience & bring us along. Each scene belonged to him he held us all in fear & wonder. There was nowhere to hide for Pine but he was sensational from beginning to end. Yes Schwarzenegger could have done a good job in the action parts but this wasn't so much about the action film as it was about the powerful Pine. He was perfect for this role.

    Quit comparing to Bourne.
Hell of High Water brothers, Chris Pine & Ben Foster team up again. Their on screen chemistry is brilliant.

Truly hope they continue to make films together.

Film is awesome. Nice back story. Good amount of action. Seeing Kiefer in cameo role was great. Great ending to film.

Please quit comparing every spy thriller genre film to Bourne. Its very silly and you cant judge a book by its cover. I like this director of The Contractor.

Chris Pine is excellent. His old man learned him well. Take this film for what it is. I did and thoroughly enjoyed it. Is it non stop action blood & violence? Nope. Script is well written.

    I approve.

    Much better than expected
I read the reviews before watching this and, if I am honest, they put me off. I don't understand how this film has such a low rating. However, hubby was keen so we watched it. Not normally a fan of Chris Pine, I thought he was actually very good in this film. Nice to see Kiefer Sutherland too and Eddie Marsen too!

Some reviewers say the film is formulaic- what film isn't?? I didn't predict the plot, so maybe that is why I enjoyed it so much. It is well paced, with slower moments interspersed with high action. Chris Pine really conveyed the pain from his injuries and it is very clear what is going on in his head. All in all, a decent film with a decent plot.
