darius_sutherland - 17 March 2024 Could not bare it I admit I gave up after 20 mins. I was looking forward to it, hoping I would spend the next 2 hours and arrive at the end feeling elated.
The acting and dialogue was sooooo bad I could not take it.

Mcduff3601 - 28 August 2023 Way better than I thought it would be I am a war movie buff and really like things around the Vietnam war. So when I saw a trailer for this I was like MOKAY!
I will say the trailer made is seem like there would be more action but it ended up being fine. Zac Efron puts in a great performance. He plays a guy that decides to support his buddies in Vietnam and bring them some beer. It's all about his journey and some of the crazy stuff he sees and deals with.
There is some light moments and just the premise seems kooky (which apparently is a true story). But the movie also shows some dark stuff which by the end you can feel the weight the trip has put on the main character.
I wouldn't say this it a comedy or an action, kind of a drama with some of that other stuff sprinkled in. Would recommend as a drama with the Vietnam war as a backdrop.
skateboardtim - 10 April 2023 A great surprise I put this on expecting it to be a stupid comedy that didn't really require my attention. But as i got further into it i found myself getting more and more interested. This is a great film, w a lot of layers. The acting was excellent and the fact that it's based on a true story really adds to it. I found myself surprised to see how much heart this movie actually had. I still can't believe i hadn't heard of it till i came across it randomly on apple tv. It was the best new movie i've seen in a while. I'd give it an 8.5 - 9 but i wanted to boost the number a little since i feel a lot of people would enjoy the film.
pedja-the - 14 November 2022 Ignore critics! First thing you need to do is ignore the metascore which is ridiculous (39)! It almost drew me away from giving this movie a chance, and boy was I in for a treat. Since the main role was given to Zac Efron and the title itself sounded like a joke my hopes weren't that high at all. But this movie gives a very serious and mature massage about the war itself, and also how the people outside the war react and take matters into their own hands as this story follows. One thing is certain, this movie will not leave you indifferent, you might even drop a few tears. As for the embarrassing low critic score, I guess they didn't like the Efron's mustache.
danieljfarthing - 15 October 2022 Vietnam War based true-tale with a comic touch & a dark streak - not quite "Good Morning Vietnam" but close In '60s-based true-tale "The Greatest Beer Run Ever" Zac Effron, a local with a big heart & simple brain at Bill Murray's NY bar, resolves to taking a beer of thanks to each of his neighborhood pals serving in the Vietnam War. Once there he gets around thru being mistaken for a CIA spook in the chaotic US military sytem, and with the likes of journo Russell Crowe sees some of the hell his friends are living (and dying) thru. Co-writer (with Brian Currie & Pete Jones) / director Peter Farrelly applies his trademark comic touch, to a belting soundtrack, but with a deep dark streak too. It's not quite "Good Morning Vietnam" but it's up there. Terrific movie.
i_skyba - 9 October 2022 The Greatest Beer Run Ever 2022 This is what needs to be shown in cinemas now, first of all in the country that started the war.
The war in Vietnam was the biggest fool committed by the Americans in their history. They lost that conflict and lost thousands of lives of ordinary American boys for nothing. The soldiers simply did not understand what they were doing there and why they were shedding blood.
This is what this picture, based on real events, shows. The American patriot went to his friends who were serving there at that time. He took only cans of beer with him, naively thinking that he was not there.
It turned out that there was plenty of alcohol there. But everything does not happen as they say on the radio or on TV. The story is built on the contrast that arises in the head of the main character.
The film carries clear thoughts, does not idealize war and violence, but shows that it is terrible.
Yes, there is enough fiction here too, and because of this, it is difficult to call the project realistic in these matters.
However, there are enough symbolisms and metaphors here to give it an appropriate grade.
