jdevilliers-43224 - 28 March 2024 Fun yet surprisingly good An inspirational story that will satisfy and entertain you. Amazing rom com. Usually these types of movies come off cheesy, cringey or cheap but this one actually delivered a compelling plot with relatable and lovable characters. Better than I thought it could ever be. Romantic yet funny. Owen Wilson is perfectly cast. Jennifer Lawrence steals the show with an amazing acting performance. It is really a shame that the trailers undersold this film. It is actually pretty good. Lots of great and emotional moments that will keep your eyes on the screen. Overall a solid film that will maybe surprise and delight you.
scottctrav - 15 August 2023 One of the best movies I've seen this year I really can't believe I didn't see this movie in the theater. My wife and I sat and watched this movie at home and laughed and cried through a lot of it. The music is great but that is consistent with a JLo movie, and Wilson played the usual out of sorts 'Guy Next Door' as a single dad with a normal job.
Lopez' found that spending time with this guy normalized her life which apparently she needed to elevate her to the next steps of her career.
There a few corner scenes that make the movie well suited for the entire family, and the closing scenes in which Lopez appears at the airport and people are scrambling to take pics, the scene on the flight in which she's sitting in a middle seat in coach in a dress so uncomfortable you have to laugh.
sgamcollection - 12 February 2023 Enjoyed Seeing Jen and Owen do a fun movie I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. People seem to feel slighted when they don't get enough drama or feels or whatever. Look folks, it's NOT real life. It's a MOVIE. Praise for JLo and Owen and the whole cast. I think some people miss the point. Movies are supposed to be fun and entertaining. This movie is both. Gimme a break. I loved it. If you look timing of when this movie was written and in production, it is definitely art imitating life. The usage of social media pressure to conform to public expectations and also highlighting women's fight to be equalized as entertainers and needing to be brought up with a man to find success were well thought out and executed. Props to the writing and production teams.
mcjj-67416 - 19 October 2022 Entertaining This was an entertaining movie. I knew the outcome from the outset but the journey was worth it. A good old fashioned love story. The only thing separating it from a Hallmark movie is that they actually kissed before the last act and spent a night together, Hallmark characters NEVER have physical engagement.
JLo & Owen Wilson are enjoyable to watch and some of the dialog was 'edgy', and felt unscripted. They meshed well together.
JLo is superb talent, singing, dancing and acting, almost a national treasure.
My only negative is the part of Melissa, I found her to be obnoxious and irritating which detracted from the overall.
brndaful - 23 September 2022 Art imitating life I felt that J. Lo was acting out her love life currently. She had every emotion as if she is living this life in real life. I assume she was imagining herself with her now husband, BenAffleck. She did good in this one. I'm a fan of her acting but I can't deal with her diva ways. She is beautiful when she is made up, but I felt her in this movie. I always liked her in Selena and Maid in Manhattan. She was so beautiful as a natural beauty in those movies. I liked the songs she sang in Selena and she looked like an Angel when she went to the ball and I loved her hairstyle and makeup. She is annoying at times.
xtxhv - 27 August 2022 2022 take on Notting Hill If you ever saw Notting Hill with Julia Roberts, this is the same style of movie. Famous person dates a nobody with a boring job and they try and make it work. Sadly, this movie falls very short in the Romcom category. Owen Wilson is the same person in all his movies, the annoying weirdo who just doesn't get it. Jennifer Lopez isn't too great in this movie either. She seemed rather dull and her performance forced. As for the ex fiancé in the movie, Maluma, the role wasn't for him, he seemed like just another star name to add to the headline.
Overall, it took me three days to finish watching the movie as I kept pausing it, looking away, or just got bored with it. There was no chemistry between Owen Wilson and Jennifer Lopez, and even less with Maluma. Lastly, Sarah Silverman needs to stop portraying the same person in almost every movie she is in. I wish she would play a different character for once. Maybe as the babysitter on a remake of the movie the hand that rocks the cradle.
I give this movie 2/10 stars as there was little to no romance, chemistry, or passion from any character.
