I am not gonna die sober!
"The Wolf of Wall Street" is abashed and shameless, exciting and exhausting, disgusting and illuminating. It's one of the most entertaining films ever made about capitalism. Leonardo DiCaprio is awesome as the stokbrocker, Jordan Belfort. And he has compared it to the story of the Roman emperor Caligula, and he's not far off the mark.

Of course the rest of the actors are also great and well chosen for their specific role.

The story is not only about drugs addiction, it is about America's big addiction: Capitalist Excess. There will be moments when you think, "These people are revolting, why am I tolerating this?, it is sometimes over the top, at those moments I thought.. It's the world we live in! They're America, robbing us blind.

    Don't miss this one!

    Awful
Given the egregious and amoral boys club portrayed in this film, I hoped for something other than the glorification of this disgusting sub-species.

We are all aware of the abysmal standards maintained by the super-rich d*cks who gamble with our money. To have them celebrated in a blockbuster styled movie is immensely disappointing.

Then again, Iceland was the only country on the planet who jailed its thieves post GFC, so maybe Scorsese just went with the zeitgeist?

I'm personally so much happier with the slick styling of 'The Big Short'. That film at least labelled the bad guys as bad guys.

The Wolf of Wall Street: A Wild Ride with a Dash of Decadence
Martin Scorsese delivered a cinematic masterpiece. The storytelling is impeccable. The cinematography is top-notch.

DiCaprio's performance is nothing short of legendary. Jonah Hill, too, deserves a shoutout because of his ability to make you laugh at moments you probably shouldn't.

But let's not ignore the elephant in the room - this movie is not for the faint of heart. It's a wild, unapologetic ride through the excesses of Wall Street, with scenes that push the boundaries of decency. If you're easily offended or prefer your movies squeaky clean, maybe sit this one out. It is also 3 hours long.

Wretched excess can be fun to watch
An unemployed investment banker starts his own brokerage with a focus on penny stocks. As his business skyrockets, he throws himself deeper and deeper into hedonism and financial crime. Can he keep hold of his new life of excess or will the law and the drugs overcome him?

Leonardo DiCaprio is brilliant in this movie and Jonah hill is not far behind. There are some very funny scenes, like when DiCaprio is trying to get Hill off the phone while both are nearly incapacitated by quaaludes, and some memorable lines, like "we stay on the phone until they buy or f--- die."

The downside is that as almost all the characters are (self-aware) profligates, it's hard to become very invested in any of them. Most of the appeal is in the spectacle of their excesses and the schadenfreude of their eventual downfalls.

It's like a cross between American Psycho and Glengarry Glen Ross.

The wolf of wall Street is best stock market movie ever🤑
Ever wondered what the stock market and stock brokers are like? Ever been interested in chalk? This film shows the life of Jordan Belfort who came from nothing and became a huge success becoming a ruthless salesman selling motorised wardrobes on the black market.

Leonardo De Caprio is brilliant as Jordan Belfort, you can't deny he has immense talent, especially in this film. He plays the role like he's missed the bus by just a few seconds, every scene he looks confused and says things like "frosted cake?" And "Any beans in the tube?" Mathew McConaughy plays a short but memorable part near the beginning, giving De Caprio a pep talk and advice about crusted marmalade and the round screw tops on jars, not entirely sure how this was important but it was a great scene. Jonah Hill plays Belforts friend Donnie, a hilariously odd character who lives in a shoe shop. I won't go into every character but they're all great, none of them wear any trousers to my knowledge. I've never realised how crazy theses guys were, maybe its over exaggerated most of the time, especially the way they abused themselves with all the drugs and alcohol, the partying scenes were funny and over the top. I didn't see any shower curtains which I found very VERY odd.

The film goes on to show the FBIs involvement to investigate the fraud to which they believe is going on within Belforts company. FBI agent Denham played by Kyle Chandler is always more often than not getting himself stuck in washing machines, just clumsy!

This film contains a record amount of farming tools, i had to pause it on several occasions to log it down in my journal.

Magot Robbie is also in this who plays Jordan Belforts wife Niaomi, she eats 16 apricots during the whole film.

For a film nearly 3 hours long it rolls along at a brisk pace, never a dull moment (apart from Niaomis apricot obssession). Which is why I knocked a star off.
