The Nightmare Before Christmas

    Unpopular opinion
This would be an unpopular opinion, but the movie is shallow and overrated. Don't get me wrong, it's great stop-motion animation, especially for the time, and character design is great, too, but that's all there is to it. And maybe a couple of songs.

There is practically no story here. It's essentially like quite a few modern movies, especially those super-heros' ones (not only Marvel): things are happening, but they are happening more because authors chose to make them happen, rather than characters were following their desires in some way or form.

I was not hooked by anything within first 20 minutes and was mostly forcing myself to watch this till the end. I was not a fan of "Corpse Bride", but even that one was much better in my eyes, since it did have a plot, even though a flawed one.

    The Nightmare Before Christmas
This film has a cult following and people really seem to like it but I have never been a huge fan of it. It just does not do it for me. I wish I cld explain why but I can't. Its an ok story, but not the best. Tim Burton is a very talented director, so I do not know why I do not care for the film but I just have never loved it. It's just ok. Nothing more to say about it. It is always included with holiday films but it's just an ok film. It is not great it's just a ok topic. I would recommend if you are a Tim Burton fan and have never seen this film otherwise skip it so many better holiday movies out there.

My only negative is Elfman's Music.
This got under my skin when they showed it at daycare so I have to give credit not only for the singular texture but also for just that special touch in the toning.

One of the best movies with Burton's name attached and it goes to figure he didn't actually write or direct it; this was the quintessence of what made me call myself a fan until he horribly lost his way in his later career: macabre and fairy-tale sentimentality harmonizing well.

I suppose the fanbase resonated to it as an anthem for the strange and sinister among us who just want to feel the snug embrace of Christmas without swallowing the lie that we aren't fine just the way we are as our own freaky selves.

    So yeah.
